If just one of those seasons Cam can field an offense that is on the same level as 2001 or 2007, I'd be perfectly fine with that.

Cameron is not unlike Chief. An older coach and a true veteran of his profession who has pretty much reached the arc of his coaching career. Where is he going to go from here? No one realistically views either one as a dynamic up and coming potential head coach at a big program, and no one can really pay them more than LSU as coordinators. The options may be HC of a smaller college or another crack in the NFL as an OC. Or he could comfortably stay at LSU and make over a million a year. He's 52 years old, it's not like he wants to move around a bunch and climb the coaching ladder at this point. I think he stays here as long as he is successful and happy here.

I was thinking along these lines also.
Needed some time to back up my point of view.

Very informative article about his family.
His oldest, Tom, is a freshman at Fordham.
Danny’s high school basketball game
14-year-old son, Chris
No info on the daughter's age.

I think he had an epiphany.

Getting fired mid-year from the eventual Super Bowl winner will make you re-evaluate your priorities.
I think he wants to cut back on the work hours and pressure to spend more time with his family.

LINK

According to The Advocate:
a three-year, $3.4 million salary package.
He is set to make $600,000 in 2013, $1.3 million in 2014 and $1.5 million in 2015.
This averages $1.1 million a year, the same as Chavis.
The backloading of the salary seems to be an incentive to stay for the full 3 years of the contract.
If the younger son is going into the ninth grade, then Cam will stay 4 years for the youngest son to graduate high school.

Is this enough links?

This is only my second post. Hope I got the links right.....

I remember a lot of people were worried dinardo would go to notre dame. Let's just hope Cam is good enough for nfl teams to want him.

thought I remember reading he wanted to stay for awhile. I guess if the NFL came calling, though, it would be hard to keep him.

very posdible. but do we really know what ither job offers he might have had besudes LSU? its very posdible he had a chance to move to another nfl team and chose us. i mean i find it hard to believe we are the only ones to contact his agent. at the same time he may love it here and stay. its not like hes an up and coming ciach that wants to taste the nfl. hes already done that.

he's made plenty of money and is making plenty at LSU. he's at an age where if he enjoys what he's doing with the Tigers he could retire here. no need for speculation at this point.
He might think about staying after his first big S.E.C. NIGHT game in Tiger Stadium. (If we win) The electric "Saturday Night Live" atmosphere might impress him enough that he'll want to stick around for awhile and be part of it. Wont get that in the NFL.

If that's the case, then he's done something great to warrant being given another job.

Do you really think Caldwell's 1-2 finish earned the Ravens playoff spot?
C'mon man.
Do you really think he needs LSU to get another NFL OC job?

Cam is here because of fortunate timing of dismissal and Les Miles.

Here's how Cam's time at LSU goes down:

Year 1) Significant improvement in offense. Tiger fans start wondering if Cam is on par with Chief.

Year 2) Offense continues to improve. LSU loses 0-1 games and makes a national title run. Tiger fans start wondering - out loud - if Cam would be a better head coach than Les.

Year 3) After a spectacular Year 2 an overhyped offense falters as teams begin catching on to Cam's tendency's. Tigers drop 3-4 games. Chief retires after the season. Because all losses are Les's fault, serious discussions center around Cam replacing Les.
Cam signs extension as OC.

Year 4) Tigers put everything together & win National Title. Les promptly retires and is given a job in the athletic department with an important sounding title - football coach emeritus or some shite -but no real responsibility or influence. The understanding is that Les will be AD eventually ala Skip. Cam is named head football coach.

Years 5-7) LSU continues to compete on a national level and Cam to NFL rumors persist yearly. At the end of year 7 Les surfaces at as a high school in the Destin,FL area claiming, "I just had an itch".

Year 6) Tigers drop 5 games. Strange recruiting takes and play calling are blamed. Tiger fans start hyping the Ted Ginn draft pick while head coach at Miami as proof of Cam's terrible talent evaluation.

Year 7) Tigers drop 6 games and Cam is promptly fired. Les declines an invitation join a search committee or offer any advise on the coaching search claiming, "I have spring football to get ready for".

Lets just watch Cam for one season then we can speculate. The wildcard in all of this is the relationship with Les and Cam and family.

That's about all we are going to get out of Cam Cameron before he moves on to NFL. I hope I am wrong

If Cameron can be successful for one season before leaving, it will finally hammer home to Miles what kind of OC to hire in the future. No more a$$ kissers like Stud the Dud.
