Positive:
1. The defense was pretty awesome last night. The Freshman were very well prepared. Its funny to see Taylor be ahead of Phillips. Shows stars are not exact science.
2. I thought Darrell Williams looked better than Guice. He hit the holes and he is much quicker than last year. Different player.
3. Greedy Williams, Ed Paris, Delpit! DBU - Are you kidding me?
4. Great idea to take the plunge with freshman OL and get them all the reps early. They will need to be huge later on and this time means a ton.
5. Imagine when we have 13 players back....

Negative
1. Thought Etling was fine. I felt like every floated out route to sidelines is a pick 6 against Bama. Has to come out quicker or more zip.
2. So much praise for defense but man that BYU gameplan and QB was so bad. Reminded me of us on 01/09.
3. Donte Jackson - he's fast, and his man always seems open since his time here. Maybe I'm a minority but I might like Toliver/Greedy as starters.
4. Special Teams was average and Red Zone offense was bad but we were running the ball on 3rd and 7 on goal line. I don't think we cared about converting. Game was never in doubt.
5. My biggest concern is I think the WR talent is the worst it's been here in a decade. Mix of Dupree leaving and inexperience. One of the guys has to become a star. I have my doubts.

All in all a great debut and exceeded expectations but I do think that BYU team is very bad.

I'm a little nervous about our corners altogether. We'll see.

Agreed. Chark is good and he's versatile, but he's not a stud WR, IMO. Our offense as a whole isn't very talented. Outside of Guice, there is nothing special. That's not to say we still can't have a very good offense. I think Canada can get a lot out of this group. Danny is limited, but he can make the throws if he has time in the pocket. He knows when to scramble, too.

A little worried about the O-line, especially at guard.

Quit reading after #2. DW did not look better than Guice.

I think Gilmore is going to have a great year at nose tackle.. that was a BS roughing the passer call.

he isn't the most talented guy but he works his arse off and his hard work is paying off. I think he'll be a coach one day.

That offense was so vanilla and the coaching wanted it that way. They showed absolutely nothing for when they play the important games.

Yeah I didn't see that part.

Guice looked incredible. His feet are the best I have ever seen from an LSU running back. He turns 2 yard runs into 6 yard runs. He's always falling forward.

I saw a lot to be happy about, and a few things needing work. This is going to be a fun season.

We dominated BYU in every facet of the game. The offense was a well-oiled possession machine. Very simple game plan for the first game but Canada'd up with a million formations.

Defense was...well ridiculous. Personally liked the d-line play especially at NT.

The only negatives I saw were...

1. Red Zone efficiency needs to improve but it's game one with a limited playbook. But it sucks getting stopped inside the 5 twice.

2. Kickoffs. We got a touchback so + there, but 3 or 4 kickoffs landed well short of the goal line. Think one landed at the 8, that's just a ridiculous disparity.

PS: Did like O keeping his promise about Myles getting some time. The kid looked in control and CEH looked on point as well.

I think the expectations for Guice were a lot higher. He had a good game but people were expecting the type of line Saquon Barkley had yesterday.

I don't think DW is better than Guice. Just thought he looked better than him last night. Part of that is probably Guice getting worn out and BYU keying on him. It was more of a reflection of DW than Guice. I was impressed.

The team played very well last night all things considered. Special teams played a little sloppy (kick off coverage) at times in my opinion. Get the penalties and special teams play cleaned up and this will be a very formidable team.

I was surprised how bad BYU looked last night. Although that could be contributed to how much better LSU is than them. They usually have a fairly decent team and I was really surprised how bad their quarterback looked. That guy was terrible.

Ok so LSU didn't make BYU look as bad as they did?????? Again LSU dominated BYU..... but since you loves Miles so much you just can't come to grips that he is gone and we are in much better shape without him......

Are you talk to me Duke? Nobody hates Miles more than me. Wasn't a fan of O hire but I would take anyone over Les. I hope O proves all of my concerns wrong.

Even if not talking to me, yes LSU made them look terrible. They also were terrible at QB. Any chance of moving the ball was killed by him. The few times he had open receivers he threw it at their feet. They were overmatched by us but they aren't a good team IMO.

Miss St will tell us a lot more.

Not talking to you then but I am now..... LSU will be that much better against MSU..... I was very impressed last night watching us totally dominate a team that had already played a game when we have not....

I liked what I saw last night totally. I'm just trying to remain objective and express concerns. If I am being realistic, our WRs and Donte are my big worries.

Chark is a good WR. He might be a better #2. Not sure. The other guys though, we got a lot of #4 WRs trying to play 2-3 option at this point. Hopefully they develop.

I thought dillon looked good as well as gage. They go up for the ball hands first. They will get better
