With all the negativity, lets give some grades.

Offense

OB = B While the stats are a little depressing, Harris did what the coaches asked and did it pretty well. There were a few minor mistakes but he seemed to handle himself well and didn't make the fatal mistake. You could also see the potential oozing from him, he made a few throws that we haven't seen since Mett and JRuss.
The key to the season will be whether or not the coaches continue to develop their confidence in his decision making ability.

RB = A+ Enough said, reason we won the game

TE = B+ Smith had a great catch, blocking appeared solid. Jeter's one yard catch was a painful thing to watch. You needed 3-4 yds for a first down and you take a 1 yd out. No excuse for that one, get to the first down marker.

OL = B+ The o-line played exceptionally well when they were asked to run block. We were running into 9-10 man fronts and our rbs still had some wiggle room to make a few plays. The pass blocking was average at best but that was still good enough to make a few plays. There were a few silly penalties, some phantom holding calls but fantastic overall performance from the OL.

Defense

DL = A- They played really well, holding the Miss State offense to under 50 yds rushing was key to winning this game. Yes, they didn't get the pressure in the second half of the game with a pass rush but state was running shorter pass routes and they were on the field most of the second half. They were a definite bright spot, the DTs really impressed me against the run. The DEs really excited me in both phases (they played much better than I thought they would). Arden Key is going to be special, as in top 10 pick in the draft if he stays healthy.

LB = A- Beckwith and Debo played exceptionally well against the run. Simply put, Beckwith took the QB dive out of the playbook on the first drive of game, they ran it, Dak got popped and you could see he felt the hit and they only ran it one more time all game. Debo showed some excellent range. That all being said, they were a little loose in pass coverage but I think we can all live with that.

CB = B+ I know they gave up a lot of pass yards but we were playing soft to not give up the big play, and it worked. Toliver will also be a top 10 pick if he stays healthy, he was fantastic. #18 also played like a seasoned vet, his athletic and heady play kept them out of field goal range. The safety play was very good, not exceptional but very good. Jefferson impressed in his first full time action, Adams was a leader back there.

Special Teams = C Nothing special but punting was really poor, surprisingly poor. It cost us field position a few times.

Offensive Coaching = C- First half was great, B+. There was some mix of plays, the defense was a little off balance. The second half = D-. No offensive balance, the coaches clammed up and it almost cost us the game. Poor.

Defensive Coaching = A- Got a little soft in the second but that's OK. The offense needed to help a bit.
