We were in week 1 of a rebuild.

Congrats on your win last year?

What does that have to do with today?

Oh nothing?

I keep reading this so-called advantage FSU had last year by playing a game before LSU,

I haven't read much about that in quite a while

quote:

but did it ever occur to anyone the advantages that LSU might've had?

No, because there isn't really much of one.

quote:

For one, that week 0 game gave LSU actual game film on FSU, while FSU had nothing for LSU which was made even more challenging due to LSU's entire new staff and quarterback.

An advantage that is significantly offset by the lack of actual game experience by LSU's entirely new staff, multiple players including two freshmen O-linemen, several transfer players on defense and a transfer quarterback.

quote:

In addition, several FSU players got dinged up in that week 0 game while LSU was obviously completely fresh.

Players get dinged up in practice and every game of the season.

quote:

In fact FSU's most dependable LB Amari Gainer suffered an injury and was out for LSU. If you watched UNC beat South Carolina last night you saw how good Gainer is.

The same thing could have happened on FSU's first defensive series. I am told those things happen in games, seems like something like that happened to LSU.

quote:

It's very doubtful Jayden Daniels has the rushing performance he had if Gainer played

quote:

It's very doubtful Jayden Daniels has the rushing performance he had if Gainer played.

It's more doubtful he has any real impact on Daniels.

quote:

So the advantages work both ways. I call it a wash.

And you would be wrong.

There is a reason virtually every coach prefers to open with a team they have an advantage over.

Watching teams with new QBs/coordinators/systems struggle a bit early on, like UGA, made me think that first came helps some.

If FSU didn’t see a week 0 game as a perceived advantage then why did they schedule it just a few months before the start of the season?

Next asinine question.

Coaches have a saying…the biggest improvement is made between week 1 and week 2.

I can’t wait until you’re gone tomorrow, troll.

Well then there you have it. FSU should win by 1 point again by your logic.

LSU has zero advantage looking at tape. FSU played a glorified high school their first game. All teams make the biggest jump from game one to game two

LSU was breaking in essentially a whole new team. A week 0 game would have been great to work out some of the kinks.

Why can’t we get some worthwhile opposing fans to come post ahead of these OOC games anymore? It’s sad that people like this fool are all we get here ahead of a matchup like this anymore.

How long is fall camp, 4 weeks? Mid season everyone is kind of settled in but early on teams are still getting into the swing of things.

Starting camp a week before your opponent alone that early in the season is a huge advantage. Give one team 5 weeks of practice and one team 4 and who do you think is more prepared?

So waking up on game day (in Orlando) and having the game on my mind in the first hour of the day is weird?

I guess tailgating is weird too right? Those obsessed fans!

I wouldn't say a wash and your "other" side of the story carries little weight. I figured this was just a troll so you got me to respond. We'll see how things play out w both teams starting out on equal footing. Would love to have seen a rematch in bowl game at end of 2022 season but I'll take this one to start the new season.

Injuries happen in every game so having a week 0 has the potential to hurt any team. That much is true. Fact is having week 0 game gives your team a serious advantage. It's well documented. Why ask why? Do your research.

I don't disagree, but the point is BOTH teams had advantages and both teams had disadvantages.

Sure. But playing your 2nd game versus playing your first is a much bigger advantage. If you say otherwise you obviously never played organized sports before.

As bad as the op is, you sound like a bigger turd.

LSU fans have had FSU on their minds 24/7 for months. And why not.
