Huh?

LSU has kids from the Bayou who can't even read and would probably be dead or in prison if not for football.

"LSU has kids from the Bayou who can't even read and would probably be dead or in prison if not for football. USC has these Samoan islander freaks that would be picking strawberries in the San Fernando Valley if it wasn't for football."

WTF.

Kinda took offense for the kids not being able to read comment, but this made up for it:

Anyway, the SEC is so far and away the best conference in America, it's not even funny. I don't care if the SEC champion has 2 losses this year. If the SEC champion isn't playing in the title game this year, it is not the title game. You cannot tell me that some Missouri-Penn State championship game would be legitimate if neither of those teams play anyone from the SEC. If you want to be considered the national champion, I think you have to go through the SEC.

Awesome read right there!

didn't care for his comment about our players can't read etc etc...but he was very complimentary of LSU.

Got me fired up!

Conduct unbecoming of a Catholic institution, or someone who professes to be one. On the flip side, they have players who need an education for a future...football surely isn't in the cards!

I think his generalization was a tongue-in-cheek exaggeration to demonstrate his point.. the SEC has hungry players.. guys who want to get to the NFL. Football is not a hobby for them, it's a way of life, a path to future livelihood.

Teams that lose in the Midwest like to make themselves feel better by saying they lose because of their rigorous academic standards and that they recruit "quality kids" (READ: middle class).

It's a lie, but it makes them feel better and it doesn't hurt anybody, so why call them out on it. Especially when they recognize our team is better.

But to say that players at LSU can't read...come on.
