I don't care who coaches next year - we just need to get back to fielding dominant defenses like we had in 2011. And that is only accomplished by recruiting, developing, and retaining dominant players. We have three guys in our Front 7 that are really good and would start or see significant time on other top teams. The old adage that defense wins championships is about as consistent as any theory in college football. Sure, the offensive game has evolved - and we need to modify our scheme to be part of that evolution - but we need to focus on getting top notch Front 7 players above all else. We did it before (2011), so we can do it again.

By the way, in case you're wondering, those three players are Godchaux, Debo, and Beckwith. That's it.

Arden Key would see time at most schools especially in passing downs

Thats the biggest problem with the team and it's going to take a few years before it gets really good again. Same with the O-line. That's on MILES!!

Agree. We need a defense minded coach with an offensive philosophy from this century.

I agree. All the focus on offense, but LSU's best teams ever were all built on great defenses.

We need Steele out of here ASAP. Miles thought he could bring in a way to stop Kiffin's offense, and it may get him fired.

you realize we can actually have a good defense AND a good offense.

Are you lame from the neck up? That's the theme of this thread. DEFENSE FIRST! Last two recruiting cycles, everyone went every time a new offensive skill player or DB committed to us. On the other hand, the big-time Front 7 commits were few and far between. (Pretty much a whiff for LBers.) This has to change if we want to regain our spot on the national stage and field playoff caliber teams. There should be the highest emphasis on getting blue chip Front 7 guys above all other positions. And the LBers need to be able to pack 235-250 at some point and remain as effective.

The fact that he was not red-shirted is telling in itself. I watched him on the sidelines the other day. He looks like a bean pole.

115th ranked Total Passing Offense in 2014.
94th ranked Total Passing Offense so far in 2015.

I don't mind Defense, but if you're a "Pro-Style," offense that doesn't include any aspects of a "Pro-Style," Passing offense, then you're gonna get your arse handed to you by most teams in this Division.

Les is absolutely okay with it. If he weren't, he'd have changed. He didn't. He can't. He won't. I don't care who we bring in, but we have to have offense.

And Les can't do 2 out of those 3.

you are correct in that to win with miles philosophy we must have a very dominant defense and special teams.

which we haven't had now, for, how long?

not likely to happen next year either, looking at the depth chart.

so, you think we'll gear up to score a lot?

There is no such thing as dominant defense in college football anymore. With the no huddle offense it's tougher on the defense now. Offense in this day in age of college football wins championships.
