Is this year's team the worst free throw shooting team in recent memory?

Stats

282nd in the nation (out of 346) before last night's dismal performance.

Look at the stats in the opening post of last nights game thread. Fn atrocious. How someone can overlook the free throw situation is beyond me it lost us the game last night and some others this year.

They are down to 296 nationally, but that is an improvement over Jonny's first year.

2016 66% 296
2015 69% 184
2014 67% 269
2013 63% 333

As a coach there's not much you can do...except focus on the areas of the game that you can control and ask the players to put in the extra time for themselves. It's retarded to spend valuable practice time throwing up free throws when there's SOOOOO many other areas where this team could improve.

Free throws are 100 percent on the player. It is you the ball and the rim. If you can't make it keep practicing it. The coaches only have so many hours a week with these guys and that needs to go towards strategy for the next game. These guys go to school to play basketball and if they don't put in the time on their own to get better at free throws that is on them.

agreed. Anyone can be a better free throw shooter if they want to be. Just put in the time (on your own) at the line shooting them.

To much time is spent in these stupid 3 on 3 pickup basketball games. You need to go to the gym and just shoot the ball (including free throws) and do it every day. It's how great shooters become great shooters.

Except, it's the coach who recruits the players that shoot the free throws.

There's not one coach in the country who recruits based on high school FT percentage.
