say what you want but if we could make free throws we are undefeated. As good of a game as Mickey had he goes 3 of 10 at the line. Our poor performance at the line kills us.

Be prepared for the pumpers to bring up that one game we shot free throws well in.

The same thing was a problem for Johnnys mentor Dale Brown.

i understand you cant use too much time in practice shooting free throws, but the players should commit themselves to shooting free throws on their own time. Me and my dad used to stay at the gym until I made 100 free throws after every practice, and I was by far the best FT shooter on my teams.

This team is just so sloppy in general, even on their best nights

I agree. If Mickey makes 3 more FTs and Quarterman makes 2more of his 1-10 frkm the field they win by one. Then we hear that Mickey has a bad ankle and TQ is sick.

It's such a mental thing. I'm sure we have our kids shoot as many as most. Don't know how much technique is taught, but there are varying theories on how much you mess with that.

Bottom line is I've never seen a coach or program that has consistently excellent free throw shooting every year. Because the mental aspect of it is so unpredictable.

Duke has been knocked out of the NCAA tournament a couple of times with teams that could have won it because of poor foul shooting and it's cost Cal a title at Memphis and maybe another at Kentucky.

It was very frustrating that we had the opportunity to chip into their lead and make it a one possession game with a minute to play with our and one opportunities, but couldn't make the free throws to do so.

There are two thing is basketball that is the biggest equalizer - turnovers and free throw shooting. LSU is actually in the top half of the SEC in free throwing shooting 72% but in the three SEC games that they lost they shot below 60% in each. BUT what is greater concern is the way they shot FTs down the stretch and when the game is on the line, i wish I could find that stat but face value tells me the are closer to %50 than their average 72%. Also, LSU lead the SEC in turnovers at 15.6 a game. We have three players on the team that average more than 3 turnover a game. LSU is in the BOTTOM 20 in Division I in turnovers. ALL the points to why they play up and down to their competition and could have won or lost all SEC games outside Florida which they won convincing shoting over 90% from the line.

Playing so many minutes tires out a couple of player and that's when free throw are most often missed. Notice Mickey's free throw misses were short.
