When was the last time Miles stated before the season that any particular player would be in the running for the heisman? I don't recall him ever throwing it out there like he did yesterday.
He seems to have that attitude like things are really coming together with the team. If that's the case, LF really could have a legit shot at the heisman.

I truly believe he's the best shot we've had in years. And he has 2 years to do it.

TM7 did go to new york, but I don't think most of expected just how special he'd be going into the season. We all know about Fournette and the entire country will hear soon if they haven't yet

While I agree that Miles traditionally hasn't used one back but more a rotation of them, LF could get more carries than we are used to seeing. The last RB we have had with anywhere near the talent was Hill and hill got 20 carries a game on average with 2 other seasoned vet's behind him. We definitely have depth, no doubt, but no junior or senior depth. It wouldn't surprise me to see him get 25-30 a game. If he does, I think he has a chance of getting the invite.

I know this is a troll post, but Fournette probably needs close to 300 carries to win the Heisman. Jeremy Hill had 203 carries for 1400 yards in 2013 with a ridiculous 6.9ypc. Let's just say that Fournette gets 300 carries next year and averages a very respectable 6ypc for 1,800 yards. I don't think we've ever had a 1,500 yard rusher, so that would be by far the most prolific season for an LSU RB ever.

FYI, Melvin Gordon went over 2,500 yards last season with a 7.5ypc average and 29 touchdowns; he finished 2nd in the Heisman voting

ETA: Les will ride one back when he sees fit. Hill, Ridley, Hester, etc. all were the feature backs in crowded backfields, so it's not like he's going to exclusively go RB by committee. However, we play a lot of dogshit OOC teams this year, so I'd imagine LF's carries are drastically cut in those games. He'll probably finish with close to 250 carries and 1,500 yards or so.

How many wins does that translate too? Really, that's all that matters.

No. It will go to qb in a HUNH offense.

I think it is more likely LF would be a strong Heisman candidate in the 2016 season.

Maybe he can get nominated this year for it--he is easily a good enough player to be in the running for it, but can any RB at LSU get the kind of numbers & carries needed, since in recent years, the trend has been for RB's to share carries.

Jennings = 1,600 yards cause the defense will play 8 in the box
Harris = 2,000+ because we will be able throw the ball

Either way 2,500 yards is a reach with a coach that doesn't give any back 30+ carries, but he is a freak and it could happen with the right QB

Absurd post.

Melvin Gordon last year rushed for 2587 yards, 7.5 ypc and 29 TDs --- and he didn't win the Heisman.

And there's ZERO chance Fournette rushes for 2500.
