But from what I thought the rule was is that once an umpire calls foul ball it is not a reviewable play.

Not really. If the ball hit the ground, it would have been a different story.

Why is everyone ignoring the NCAA statement?

It was clearly a reviewable play, there just wasn't a request for review by either the coach or the crew.

Is that a pole in the fence? If a ball hits the foul pole and bounces foul is it a hr?

The ball was not above the fence. Had it been reviewed it would of been a double

do all fields have that wide yellow pad? pad looks wider than the line on the field. The pad is covering a pole. That is why I begged the question.

The wall isn't the ground. The ground is lava

I'm really at a loss to see people in this thread still arguing that it wasn't reviewable when we have the NCAA statement saying it could have been. They even told us that the umps could have placed the runners where they felt they would have ended up. (1 run in, runners at 2nd and 3rd)

LSU gets a lot of breaks in Omaha. Be it karma or be it they've earned it.

Whether fate or fortune dictates LSU is the benefactor most of the time.

And as a Tiger fan, I love it!

Either way I am happy we hurried up and snapped the ball before they could review.

We heard this enough from the shitty announcers calling the game. Although true, enough already

They're still talking about it on ESPN.

What I didn't understand is why they talked about it all damn game and then blamed the umpires instead of the idiot coaching decision not to argue the call. Mention it then move the frick on. The entire broadcast after was about a foul ball call.

I was incorrect in my earlier post. Thanks for the clarification. I heard multiple people on radio broadcast say it wasn't reviewable.

It was by far the biggest call of the game. Had the umps called it correctly on the field, the game would've gone to extra innings.

I really don't understand why the OSU coach did not ask for replay on that foul ball call.

OK, lets say they review it. What is the reversal ruling? One base? What about the runners? Ball was not a ground rule double and you cant assume extra bases. Ump called it foul so fielders ceased to play. There was not a good correctable call here...

No body knows that. LSU would play entirely different had they scored two runs there and I believe that would have made it 2-2 anyway so the home run by Smith would have made the difference. Regardless the talk should have been more about OS HC not asking for further review not about the umpires not giving them their review. Big calls are missed all the time that could have or would have led to more scores, move on.

Yeah OS would have probably been screwed anyway. Would have probably only gotten 1 out of that after the replay. Oh well Tigers win, my only concern now is how the frick are we going to find the arms for the rest of this thing. It's going to be tough without Walker, with him I think we win this thing no doubt.

And they got to hit one of our batters without him taking a base. The difference is we won't still be bitching about tomorrow like they (and ESPN) will be.
