Well he sort of left it open ended. If we go down to Atlantis without him it will be so bad. But if it is just a few shite games, it doesn't matter and would be good getting guys reps.

As far as CJJ losing control, we have no idea what Victor did. Jazz Ferguson just got suspended from the football...has O lost control? Maybe he missed a few classes so he is suspending, I have no idea.

I do not want CJJ as coach any longer. However, people who are "pissed" he was hired...stop. We're not a basketball powerhouse, he was cheap, he brought great recruits in. He generated a buzz about basketball that hasn't been there in a while. He also failed miserably with that talent, so it's time for him to go. However, it was worth taking a chance on him. It's not like it has set us back as a program, we were shite to begin with.

I love LSU basketball as much as anyone so I will continue to watch every game and hope we win all of them. All the fans who simply "can't watch until CJJ is gone"...well, you'll always be like that with any LSU basketball coach that doesn't make it to the Sweet 16 (FYI, that's going to basically be every coach).

While you make a few good points the "cheap" angle is crap. Spend a little money and get a better coach and make more money. The money that a good basketball program can generate would exceed the extra salary. And don't give us the "basketball powerhouse" angle. It's not like football where the support has to be off the charts for the team to be successful.

Name where I said the word "great". In fact, the word "downfall" indicates I do not think we will be very good this season. But again, we have some solid talent that we will put on the court.

By your logic, Kentucky has literally no good players and only a couple of "consistent" players . You see how completely stupid your argument is, right?

Hey, I dont agree with it. You're absolutely right. Business 101...spend money to make money. CJJ is like the 2nd or 3rd lowest paid coach in the SEC. LSU in terms of ROI is killing it simply from last year alone. I just know LSU with basketball is cheap. They spend so much for football and baseball they cut corners in basketball, I just accept it.

We will not be a physical team at all, and CJJ is not a good coach, that will be our downfall. However, we have some pretty good players on our team individually.

This makes me sad and mad. LSU basketball team generally has some good players and sometimes great players, but we have never become an elite and respected team.
Sorry, this year I don't have any expectation other than finishing at best ~0.500, but still will watch them playing.

Blakeney is much better than "decent". It took a little while last season, but when the light came on late he looked every bit like the HS All American he was. He avg. 19 ppg in his final 11 games. Individually, Blakeney is as good as any guard in the SEC, including any that play for UK. Victor is solid and (assuming he gets his stuff together) Should be able to give you 14/8. Remember, even though he is a Jr., he's only played 1/2 as season of college basketball.

If Patterson is your third "consistent" guy, then you are wrong. He had a very good Fr. year and was largely absent last year. Sampson is the third guy to watch. He's a really good player. I wouldn't be surprised to see him make some big strides this year. Frankly, I was shocked he was much better last season. At Madison Prep with Martin, Sampson was the better player (though Martin was the better prospect)

That's not to say Jones will be able to do anything with the pieces he has, but LSU does have some guys whom they should be able to compete in the SEC with. The league is weak this year with several"OK" teams and no real juggernauts

For anybody with better basketball knowledge than me, does Craig Victor have any nba potential?

Just curious because he's my kid's favorite player after that LSU trick or treating event on sorority row. Craig was incredibly nice playing with the kids and helping them slam dunk on the little hoops they had set up.

I think the Jones hire was 90% because of pressure from the former players, Dale Brown, Collis Temple, etc. The admin was scared to death of separating themselves from this faction. They also knew that recruiting would get better under Jones which was the issue under Johnson.

Blakeleny will have to average close to 30 ppg this year.

But that's my point...you know those 5-stars they have will be GREAT. We have a former 5-star and 2 former extremely high 4 star players. We have talent that is way above what you are giving us credit for. If you want to say we are going to be shite because our coaching sucks, I won't argue with you. I also am not saying we have elite talent, but we have 4-5 players that will be professional basketball players (I don't mean nba, I mean in general in the world). We have above average to good talent, and with the right coach it could compete for a tourney spot.

The bottom line is pretty simple....

I have no problem with the Jones hire....or the Caldwell hire for women.....I just have a problem with the results up to this point. Both coaches have this year to fix it or it is time to move on. End thread.

I would would agree with that....I have a feeling Alleva will be one year too late on another firing.

He appears to be lacking in coaching skills required to promote good defense and make adjustments during games. Now, after the apparent mishandling of Simmons, TQ and team chemistry last year, his judgement and leadership are in doubt. If the team finishes in bottom half of the SEC this year as I suspect they may, he should be gone.

I do think he is mediocre in the coaching skills department at best for one main reason, he is well below average at holding kids accountable. That brings all else down.
