#raiders vadal alexander was solid at RT last week. Wouldn't surprise me if he became the starter eventually. Viewed him as a guard in draft

Coaches thought rookie Vadal Alexander did a nice job last week, and he is likely starter at RT against Ravens

The seventh-round draft pick out of LSU was called into more serious active duty in Week 3, becoming the latest in a revolving door of right tackles on the Raiders offensive line.
No problem.
“I’m the type of guy who always knew I could play and deliver,” Alexander said Tuesday. “Coach (Mike) Tice and the Raiders needed me. I had no doubt I was ready to play.”
In a 17-10 win over the Tennessee Titans, Alexander played 48 snaps after Menelik Watson left with a lower leg injury. There were no pancake blocks for touchdowns, but no glaring errors, either.
On a 90-plus degree day in a road environment, the seventh-round draft pick out of LSU more than held his own in his first extensive action.
“He did a really nice job,” coach Jack Del Rio said. “He graded out very well.”
At 6-foot-5, 326 pounds, Alexander fits in nicely on an offensive line that values strength and power over everything else.
Through three games, the Raiders are second in the NFL in rushing at 148.3 yards per game and quarterback Derek Carr has been sacked just twice — and one of those came on a play in which he ran out of bounds for no gain.

People were claiming Weathersby and Teuhema would be upgrades, not even close.

Did you see him in pass pro against eastern Michigan, Syracuse, and western Kentucky last year? Yikes. Not to mention Arkansas.

Why didn't the Saints draft him?

A better question is: Why don't the saints draft LSU players?

Funny thing about this is that his grade is a full 30 points higher in pass pro than run blocking.
77.9 Pass Pro
47.1 Run Block

Well then what the hell are the coaches doing if he can play the position well enough to be a capable starter in the NFL? He was a mauler in the run game. The Oline isn't overpowering anyone this year, not even JSU. They were dominating in the run game against Auburn even last year.
