BATON ROUGE, La. – Former LSU safety Brandon Taylor’s playing career might be over, but he apparently he isn’t done with football yet. The offers to embark on a professional coaching career have been plentiful. Taylor, a third-round pick of the San Diego Chargers in the 2012 draft, played in only four games as a rookie before injuries the next season ended his career. That winter, he returned to LSU to complete his degree and has been working for an industrial contractor since graduating. That hasn’t stopped coaches from trying to lure Taylor into the profession. Taylor admits he has been approached about joining his alma mater as a graduate assistant. In addition, John Chavis, his defensive coordinator at LSU, has offered Taylor a job at Texas A&M.

You don't know the job description for Grad Assistants do you? lol Maybe he doesn't want to get into coaching or at least not go through the bitch work that grad assistants do.

He said in the interview that he's really enjoying doing what he's doing right now and he doesn't know for certain if that's what he wants to do. He's not ruling out a possibility in coaching just won't do it unless he's 100% certain that's what he wants to do.

Grad assistant is a thankless job where you work as much of jot more than actual coaches without getting much in return.

quote:

Grad assistants are required to be accepted into school, and must attend graduate level classes, working towards an advanced degree, all while working 60-plus hours per week for the football team. While their scholarships do cover the tuition costs associated with their pursuit of an advanced degree, the “stipend” portion of their scholarship amounts to very, very little per month.

I wish this were true. Bogalusa is my hometown but not Brandon Taylor. I believe Brandon is a Franklinton boy.

Money is one

maybe he is starting a family and wants to be home with a consistent schedule.

Maybe he just doesn't want to coach.

One of my favorite "unsung" Tigers through the years. Great athlete and leader. Whatever happened to his brother Jhyryn or however you spell it?
