Per ESPN, the press release from Sheriff Norman said it was a road rage killing, so presumably his office has more information than what was initially released. Note that he was apologizing when shot & killed.

Not to ignore the obvious tragedy (RIP Joe), but I had to double check my memory -
Carrol was not only the coach for McKnight's recruitment, he coached through the end of 2009. So, going back to the beginning of the 2009 season, USCw had had (counting interims) 5 head coaches over the 8 seasons (6 if you count Helton twice). They've gone 70-34 over that stretch - (61-30 since Carrol left).
