"The Louisiana High School Athletic Association announced late Tuesday afternoon Southern Lab was ordered to forfeit its Division IV state championships from the past two seasons and were banned from the next two postseasons after serious recruiting violations were exposed.

In addition, Randall was suspended for the entire 2017 season for his alleged participation. Randall, who was a quarterback at LSU from 2001 to 2004 and tossed the "Bluegrass Miracle" pass to Devery Henderson in 2002, has been fired, according to several media outlets."

Also, this could follow some Southern lab athletes as well:
"Along with the penalties handed down, the LHSAA stated Tuesday, "Numerous present athletes at Southern Laboratory School and athletes that have left Southern Laboratory School will be subject to continued investigation and potential ineligibility."

90% of private schools recruit, this has been a long time coming.

John Curtis started the trend, Evangel Christian Academy perfected it, and Southern Lab kept it going.

THIS, is why we have a split in our High School system. I for the life of me don't understand why the LHSAA doesn't make all High Schools, public or private, have to follow rules set in place for all athletic programs of every sport. If a student wants to go to a school and NOT participate in athletics then that student is exempt from those rules set in place for athletics.

Isn't this common practice?

Maybe it's good we didn't land the smug Chris Allen?

So does that also apply to the "school of choice" programs in public schools? Where students can elect to apply to the school that is the "business academy" like Acadiana High in Lafayette and are eligible to play football regardless of the district they actually live in. Or public magnet schools or charter schools like Madison Prep, which is technically a public school?

There is a set of rules that apply to all schools, including rules regarding how the students family pays for their school relative to other students in the school (in other words, tuition assistance cannot be offered to athletes that is not offered to non athletes with criteria not involving athletic participation).

There is really no easy solution and the LHSAA is managing to look more and more incompetent with every decision they make regarding the split, IMO.

I do think they got this right but too bad they could find this before they won state championships.

I had no idea they couldn't recruit. It was decades ago, but I had Curtis coaches in my living room trying to convince my parents to let me go there (and to hold me back a year despite my soaring intellect).

It was rampant a few years ago... Hell they (not this school) even built apartments for families to live in. They give parents jobs, all kinds of incentives. It's really pathetic that it went on for as long as it did.... But this is louisiana

LSU should hire him to shadow staff.

He's still a huge LSU supporter, despite what people think on here because of where Chris Allen went. Marcus was at every LSU game in purple and gold.

Just the first to get caught. This is common place in private schools. John Curtis, Riverside Academy, Evangeline Christian, Catholic High Baton Rouge, Brother Martin (more for basketball), St. Thomas More, and the list goes on and on and on. They all do it. Randall is just the unfortunate one to get caught.
