Who knew Saban existed before he came to BR?

I remember when they announced Saban as the head coach at LSU - almost nobody knew who the hell he was. It was funny. Everybody knew about 5-6 coaches that they heard were supposedly going to be the next coach. We were all like..."WHO?!"

Name one person at LSU who has the capacity to go out and find that coach.

We do not have an AD or a chancellor with the balls to fire Les and go get an unknown.

Coaches who could have taken a program built by Saban and put out the results Les is doing now: 50% or more of the coaches in NCAAF.

People praise Miles like he was some awesome candidate. He was 28-21 at Oklahoma state and 1-2 in bowl games. You're telling me there aren't coaches out there with similar resumes? Please.

And thats part of the problem. But once the big booster /TAF guys start getting in Allevas ear, I see him folding. When they start seeing the $$$ not supporting what they are doing, they will figure something out.

But yea thats part of the problem too. Our ADs a pushover.

Elleshoe, you said something that really strikes home with me and it is very scary because I too have become very apathetic towards LSU football during Miles' reign and Ive been going to LSU football games since 1964 and truly never felt that way even with Archer, Hallman and Dinardo. I always thought something was better just around the corner but never was completely on the Miles Bandwagon and definitely hopped off with the JJ clocking the ball fiasco in Oxford. Sad to say , but when apathy sets in things are not headed in the right direction. Now to answer the OP's question: 1. Gus Malzahn, 2. JImbo Fisher 3. David Shaw, 4. Art Briles . You said name 2 who could and would come here, there's 4 IMO who have the means and I would believe would come here and all would be a step up above Miles.

It will take another year or two before we actually make a move on the buffoon and by then we'll be dragging the bottom. Then it will take multiple years to bring it back from the depths, provided we make a good hire which is a risky proposition.

We're boned for years to come in my opinion.

You could be correct because he really screwed us over with that BS about Jeff LOng being interested in him at ARky and played Alleva like a fool. However, as with every business if the pocketbooks start to collapse that is where he may get a fast exit. If we continue to get a bunch of no shows which could start happening especially with the Black Friday game this year with Arky , even though the game is technically a sell out, when you start losing a lot of money due to low concessions and gift shop sales at the Stadium, you may just begin to hear the Whispers of the Higher end TAF members begin to complain. I guess we will all see soon enough.

It will take longer than I care to stomach. Look I've been a die hard fan of LSU since I can remember. I am old enough to have watched the last 5 years of Charlie Mac. I used think man I wish we could hang with Bama, and Miami, FSU and those schools. Then we could and we were better and now I see us sliding back to those years. What has Miles got invested here nothing. He is making his, deep down inside he does not care for LSU the way the fans do. He has fricking been rested on his supposed recruiting prowess and we see where he is missing there too. fricking Saban is sweeping here and getting the best of La. and fricking LSU is getting the left overs. The same thing was going on through out the eighties and ninties. Miles has lost it, Kids don't believe he can win titles anymore and every fricking coach in the SEC is beating home. Now even Ole Miss can say hey we beat those guys they aren't that good.

Yeah, let's let the Rant choose the next LSU head coach.
Would likely be a better alternative than Jeaux Bleaux in the LSU Athletic Administration Taj Mahal making the choice.

Joe Alleva selecting a new head football coach is a scary thought!

Ole Joey panicked and gave Dumbeaux a raise and a contract extension. Now there is a massive buyout which is going to ensure LSU football mediocrity for years to come. It's Mac 2.0. guys. Before you send the current head coach packing, there is a strong "Want" for a new AD that has cahonies that are bigger than snow peas.

That being said, I would like to see what Art Briles could do with the program considering the amazing job he's done at Baylor. (Even though he SOUNDS a little too much like Curley Hallman when talking) A Briles offense with respectable defense at LSU would be something to see. Keep Chavis around, maybe Brick and hire a great secondary coach (Bring Cooper back) and you'd have something there.

Doubt that CC would hang around if LSU axed his buddy, but you never know. Don't know if Briles and Cameron share the same offensive philosophy, but I'm sure at this point, CC has become frustrated. There's no way we're currently seeing his full offensive package at LSU. It's a Miles/Cameron Hybrid for sure.

It's all pipe dreams though because Miles aint goin nowhere in the foreseeable future. He does need to make multiple staff changes though because he's starting to fall into the beginning stages of "DiNardo Syndrome" with his staff. Some weak links there, that need to be fixed. Let's see if he recognizes the problem and tries to fix it after the season, or just stands pat and does nothing a la Gerry.
