Johnson did not do much to "impress" his first season. I'm sorry, we have two, TWO golden spikes candidates, and I
would say 6-8 top 5 round draft guys. I get he didn't have the pitching, but the lack of defensive alignment, high
number of errors, and erratic pitching changes are all COACHING. Y'all need to wake tf up and realize that we
had the worst fielding percentage in the SEC and our SS and 2B had the highest number of errors in the SEC.

I assume you’re talking to me, what do you think we should do, fire him?

Also, one of those 6-8 high draft picks is the 2B you’re saying can’t field.

We sure make an awful lot of mistakes.....that has to fall on fundamentals, which falls on coaches.

This team did NOT improve in ONE area, not one!

We used to be a program that was in the mix for the world series every year. Now we’re just another mediocre team. Southern Miss is full of Ole Miss, State, LSU, Tulane rejects and we just let them look like the top program in the region

So we’re supposed to let guys walk the bases loaded every inning or try to find someone who can find the plate and maybe get outs?

You said he had no pitching. Kind of hard to make it to Omaha without pitching right?

Tre Morgan, Cade Doughty, Dylan Crews, Josh Pearson, Jacob Berry

6 was a stretch, but you get the point.

I thought I read an absurdly dumb take earlier, but WOW!

Without pitching, a man at the plate can put the ball wherever he wants. Jeez.

People will try to blame it all on Mainieri while ignoring the fact that Schloss completely rebuilt a team way worse than ours and has them as a top 8 team in the country.

I’m not ready to fire Jay at all, but I won’t ignore the facts. Some pitchers improved, some didn’t. He managed them well, but development of the staff is still TBD. Defensive struggles are what concerns me the most. And I don’t know that his teams will ever be good defensively.

You responded to me, but I know you meant to respond to OP. I’m assuming he meant Doughty is a top draft pick, but in the same post he says Doughty cant field

And they scored 8 runs per game in the regional. If just one or two more pitchers had stepped up, they would be playing on. If anything, the pitching performance in the regional shows just how remarkable a job the staff did managing the pitching through the season.
