Jump on here and spew ignorance.
Morons in the game thread shouting about simmons having no left hand......ummm....he is left handed.

Idiots are in abundance right now. This place has been over run more than usual. Damn....

I can explain it. A bunch of numbnuts heard LSU basketball landed Ben Simmons and they were going to be pretty good this year. Naturally, the bandwagon of dumbshits are now on board.

Unfortunately, the fans who supported the team thru many lean years, now get to share the success with these Johnny come lately guys.

Fun story...Tonight I had a numbnut friend text me saying "why does #5 even have a scholarship...he's worse than Josh Gray was last year. Face palm ensued for me.

I don't think that's the case at all, we barely made the tournament last year with 2 first round draft picks. Blew a gigantic lead in 1st game of said tournament. We get the #1 recruiting class and best player.....and lose to a team that lost to Belmont. Let that marinate for a moment.

Martin and mickey were wildly inconsistent last year. The 1st rounder you are spouting off about......couldn't make a point blank uncontested layup down the stretch and missed his last 8 free throws in crunch time. But yeah....talk about where they were drafted

And don't play the transitive property game here. You rantards love to do that.

I bought a 4 pack today.

Let me guess?

We can't develop a point forward who can shoot the ball?

It gets pretty bad in football and postseason baseball game threads most of the time. Basketball will be joining that group this year, unfortunately. That's the price of high expectations.

Honestly, no offense to you personally, but that is kind of what the OP is all about. Basketball doesn't work like football. It sucks that we lost, but the team needs to find its strengths and weekness. People bitching about Simmons when he goes for 20+20+ is the definition of crazy. Lots of teams lose to Belmont in November.

I barely know we have a basketball team, care nothing about the sport, but found this funny. Like not developing a QB? Seems to be a recurring with our sports teams.

I can't understand folks bitching about Simmons either, but jones just isn't a good coach. It's really not that hard to see. Is it a coincidence the guy stayed at unt so long without getting interest from any power 5 teams?

As they say, you get what you pay for. In Jones defense, nobody wanted the job as much as him. He actually loves the school and the paycheck. The program has improved since he took the job. He's bringing stars to play ball at the PMAC. At least people care about the games. You can sell that to people. Not all bad.

But at the end if the day it's all about winning. No one wants to see jones succeed more than me, but it just doesn't seem like it's going to work like that.
In college basketball you either need to be a calipari like recruiter, or a really good x and o coach. I'm afraid we have neither.
I understand that we got the #1 class last year, but can that be replicated continuously to stock the cupboards.

No, but you need to keep in mind that LSU has treated basketball like a rec sport. Everyone knows football rules at LSU. Basketball usually gets the shite end of the stick. Hell, a large number of people on this board would tell you baseball is more important than basketball.

That won't change unless LSU decided to go out and buy one of the elite coaches. When LSU hired Saban, they sent a message to the football world that we were serious about being a big time player.

Really sad of affairs really...the athletic department has more than enough money to throw a little more to the basketball program. I'm realistic and don't expect final 4 runs every year, but don't see why we can't be a consistent tournament team.

Makes me nauseated to think Tony Bennett was practically begging to come here when we hired Trent Johnson, and we end up getting saddled with that joke.

We may just be that with Jones. Talent can carry you a long way.
