Anything dealing with:
1) "twelfth man;
2) "playing way above his/ their head;
3) "blue collar player/ team (insert name of white player);
4)"back on their heels (usually in reference to a defense being dominated;
5 "MOMENTUM"
6)"you can throw away all the records on this one (a reference required just before or after one talks about all the records you can throw away)

The one that easily pisses me off the most is "It is what it is." WHAT THE F DOES THAT MEAN?!

It means, "It happened and it's over."

Not really that hard.

If they didn't use these they would have to come up with some other obnoxious quips that could be alot worse.

Actually, I think the more accurate question would be whether there's something about cliches that you particularly enjoy?

No not really, you would be wrong thinking that that is the more accurate question. Everyone is complaining about cliches; therefore, the more accurate question would be, "Well, why are you complaining about cliches?"

When it's a thread that's dedicated to how annoying cliches are, you don't find your question to be the least bit assinine?

Just give us a cliche - c'mon, you must know one...

Not at all. No need to start a new post asking something that should be asked in this post.

You must be blessed with that special gift of having an answer for everything - a career in politics awaits you, I'm sure.

I didnt really say that at all. I'm just trying to figure out why people hate these cliches so much.

Is it because they are overused?

Are they inaccurate?

Are they worded poorly?

Do they just not understand the meaning of them?

Do they have trouble interpreting symbolism, metaphors, etc?

Well, that's the essence of a cliche - something that's overused.

Just think about anything in your life that you experience ad nauseum - same feeling when you listen to football game announcers spewing the same stuff.
