Like I said Public safety! 70,000 in stadium and security that can be better used elsewhere

Right, but they're playing a scrub team this week. Why would they care?

Last year it was LSU and they had players out. They were scared

have you ever seen the logistical nightmare of hurricane evacuation!? it is irresponsible to play that game the day before storm arrives - even if the weather is absolutely perfect on saturday.

not to mention, i'm assuming hundreds of thousands from further south will be arriving in northern florida.

i understand the need to push forward but this seems a little over the top in my humble opinion

edit: a facebook feed from friend of mine evacuating north is stating that gas stations all over south florida are running out of gas. yet another potential logistical issue with playing a game on saturday.

Will campus even be open and how can they play with first responders having more important responsibilities where two talking points we heard from Florida fans last season.

Every game in Florida was played that weekend last year. Including UF's women's volleyball at home. Yet LSU was the bad guy for questioning their reasons for begging off and the real necessity of cancelling or moving the game. Bunch of assholes.

Yeeeeeeeeeah public safety! That was why! It definitely didn't have to do with the fact that they had like 6-7 starters dealing with injuries that they could potentially get back if they just postponed playing the game for a month. It was safety!

I can't believe they can even think about playing a game at this time. How can they expect the players to play knowing their families and friends might be affected?? How can they take away all these resources they are going to use as security and LE for the game??

I live on the east coast of Florida and if anything Irma is projected to have a bigger impact on Gainesville and all of east coast Florida than Matthew was. It is complete bullshite that they canceled the game last year and they just proved it.
