Anyone else find it strange that he’s gonna play in the ball game even though he’s in the transfer portal? Kelly confirmed this earlier. Does that mean the doors open for him to stay or is it just the obligatory, let him finish the season at the bowl game? Thoughts?

Kid pretty much has no experience. Any film he can get will help him

He let Derrick Davis play last year before he left
They put in the work for the season so they’ve earned right to bowl trip
Maybe he does decide to stay if lsu holds him a spot

Kid probably has a good attitude, but lacks the talent to play.

Not weird at all. Tells me the kid is doing it the right way with the blessing of his coach. Likely means he was encouraged to find a new place to play to free up a scholarship and Kelly is doing him a solid by giving him some film.

He does. Our family knows him, he is a genuinely great human being. A gentle giant off the field. When he went to camps at LSU he was a Dlineman and had played Dline at LCA. Probably not quite as big as you want but still good. When Orgeron asked him to try working at center, he did it, he was a whatever the coaches want kind of kid. LSU had a need at center at the time, for depth if nothing else, and Orgeron offered him as a center. He went back to LCA and got them to let him play some at center to try to get reps in (still played DLine as well). I know he is probably not quite up to SEC level but I am also a bit sad to see him go. He did get moved back to Dline because that became a bigger need for the team, he is a team player, and that is really his natural position.

I don't know that is correct but I also don't know it isn't. I think he lacks the talent to get playing time over the guys ahead of him, though, that is for sure.

This picture of him from an article on Tiger Wire sums up what he is like. You rarely see him without that smile on his face.

Orgeron offered him, when Kelly got here he didn't have enough incoming recruits to tell anyone, especially a kid with a great attitude, to take a hike.

ETA: not saying he wasn't talented enough, just that the situations on the team are changing.

Thanks for the great write up. Best of luck to Fitzgerald. That attitude should serve him well in life, and hopefully in football too.

You've spoken with Fitz, haven't you Clean? I think if any of the guys here had a chance to talk with that kid, they would be sad to see him go. In terms of attitude and personality, he is exactly the type of kid you want on a football team.

I've been a big Fitz fan since he was an 8th grader at LCA.

Recruiting in real life isn’t like a video game. You don’t truly know how good a kid is until they coach them.

I think West is going to have a really good career somewhere. It may be just a numbers game here at LSU.
