I know you are not comparing the best corner back to ever play with Greedy Williams. There is no comparison.

Obviously something effected it. He was projected much higher prior to that sequence of events

Did people throw a fit like this when Leonard Fournette slipped his bowl game to get ready for the draft? I don’t remember, but I know it sure didn’t hurt his draft stock.

I don’t think for most players it matters. However when there are questions about a players toughness then missing a bowl game for fear of injury isn’t the best look.

I really don't care. I love seeing the young guns step up and take their part...just like they will the next September.

Greedy did bother me a touch because we really needed him in a New Years Six game. We were barely able to field a defensive backfield at that point. Most years it is not as glaring as it was this one.

First Rounders who skipped their bowl game

Greedy is slipping not because he did not play bowl game. He is slipping because he was exposed against A&M, cannot tackle worth a shite and has trouble against big receivers

But that’s kind of what people are saying. He needed to fix his film not “prepare for the draft.” The fact he never tackle reduces his risk of injury in that one remaining game and makes him look like a team-first guy when they wonder about his character.

Greedy, in particular, was a player who needed to play in the bowl. Instead he tried to big shot by announcing early that he was skipping the bowl. His team was forced to use offense players and walk ons in the game to even have a secondary to field. It was a New Years 6 bowl and he could have been the star of it.

Yes, skipping the bowl alone did not cost him. However, it was a bad decision, he would have been much better off playing.

For Greedy, I agree with this

1. I'm comparing an aversion to tackling with an aversion to tackling.

2. DS wasn't the best corner to ever play when he was drafted. You don't know what Greedy will become.

I feel the same way. I understand why they don't, but I still feel like they should play since they're part of the team.

What if he DID play the bowl game, tackled his arse off, and made a strong case? There's risk in playing, but also opportunity.

Well then maybe the Raiders would have drafted him because they are the only team who would use one game to evaluate a player. No good team trashes their evaluation of a player based on one game.

You say this...

Yes, skipping the bowl alone did not cost him.

then you say this.

However, it was a bad decision, he would have been much better off playing.

So you do think one game would've made a huge difference. You're trying to say that one game did cost him, which is silly. It's a lazy argument; he did something that you didn't like, and you're mapping that on to why he's dropping in the draft. All of the bad film is still out on him.

If you want to say he should've come back for another year then ok, that makes more sense but still ridiculous. He'll be chosen very early tonight.

You gonna pay his bills if he blows his knee out in an exhibition game and never plays again?

frick that, he's trying to take care of his family by protecting his assets which in this case is his physical well being. Anything else is irrelevant.
