He's currently an analyst at Illinois and passed on a staff position with Fickell when he didn't get the Wisconsin HC job. He is a top 5 DC in the nation, easily.

He’s good coach no doubt. However, LSU needs a good to elite recruiter on that side of the ball.
If it’s me, I’m personally looking at Bo Davis, Schumann, Brad White, Mel Tucker (if possible) potentially as DC replacements.
I think LSU also needs to look at Miamis DC.

He’s a young guy in the coaching world, so that can be a plus in recruiting.
Wisconsin hasn’t really recruited well while he was there, but Wisconsin is a tough place to recruit for. With that in mind it’s hard to really answer.
If you go that direction I do think we need several proven recruiters on staff that have recruited at the highest level and shown results.

Dave Aranda sucked as a recruiter. You need the staff members to recruit not the DC. Whoever can coach and implement a scheme works then go get ace recruiters

I'm going to say Guidry.
He coaches in south and knows how to recruit the south.
Turned Miami from a shitshow on defense to top 15.
He is very attainable as well. Doesn't even make a million a year.

Sure you need great recruiters, but I think you also need great coaching more at coordinator, to pull out that elite play. He turned Duke Riley into a mid round draft pick. Corey Thompson was a mediocre safety and missed Aranda's first season. In his last season he converted him to a LB who had 6 sacks and 7 TFL. Same year Divinity had 54 tackles 10.5 TFL 5 sacks 2 PBUs 1 int for 31 yard, one forced fumble, and one 58 yard fumble return TD after sparely playing the year before. Same year Devin White caused havoc (well he had two years of that).
What I'm saying is, we need damn good coaches. Shea found some research a while back that showed LSU was the best place to go if you were a 3 star, and one of the worst places to go if you were a 5 star. Look at our 5 star history. I mean really look at it over the past, what, 15 years? What I will say is that LSU needs to hit on their elite in state DBs more. Ed O destroyed us in several recruiting areas with the shite show over the last 2 years and the transition we had.

Mel Tucker is radio active right now. He would have to be back house staff.
