Finebaum sounds like a bama fan on the rant. He said this is Saban’s worst coaching job. They are 7-2 right now and can still make a ny6 bowl. He seems very butthurt

Wow...

ETA: the takeaway is that it's clear Saban hates the current state of CFB because he can't be the dictator/lord of the manor he used to be. Players have too much power.

Mind you, I agree with him. I hate NIL and the transfer portal. But CFB is becoming more like the environment he faced in Miami in the NFL and we know how that turned out.

They see the timbers rotting. The whole edifice isn't going to collapse today but it needs a teardown and rebuild, and the question is whether Saban is able or willing to do it. Everybody knows Saban is a short timer anyway, and the timeline just telescoped.

I love anything that gives the players more power. The coaches and schools are raking in dough by the truckload.

The second Kelly signed jus contract the conference changed just on his reputation alone which I sure coaching circles is even higher than what fans might think. He might not be the most charismatic guy of all time but he brings a proven system of doing things that has resulted in success everywhere he’s been. Now he just has true thoroughbreds to play for him. Guaranteed that bothered Saban more than any coach hiring in the SEC since Kirby Smart went to Georgia. The Bama dynasty is over. There’s too many other very good teams in the conference, it’s not just LSU and Georgia chalking them anymore.

When Saban can stack the deck with “NIL” before it was transparent and legal, his greatness flowed. Now, his greatness plumbing needs roto rooter.

At least it feels like the foothills of change.

Starts with BK locking down the boot. Time to pounce.

Yes he is a hack. But he does know a little about what is going on in the Alabama program. He knows people. That’s about the only thing he’s good for.

I think a lot of those callers are doing schtick. One of the main instigators a few years ago was really his BIL.

Was Paul such a gump before they hired Saban?

This is Saban’s worst coaching since 2007.

He has a stacked roster and a Heisman winning QB. He’s losing because his players are out of position, committing penalties, and opposing coaches are out-scheming him.

He knows which side his bread is buttered on but he wasn't such a complete dickrider before Saban. He's a Tennessee grad. He hates LSU and Louisiana in general because one of his early jobs was in Shreveport and he apparently had a bad experience. He can be objective when he wants to but his inclination is to be a douchebag whenever possible and TBH Miles and Orgeron gave him plenty of opportunity.

Bingo.

No one can give any legitimate reason why these kids should not be allowed to make money off their own likeness. If you are opposed to NIL you are a communist. Period!

Finebaum credits Dale Brown for helping him get is first break with a newspaper in Shreveport. I’ve listened to him since his early Birmingham radio days. He’s run the gambit from a-hole to CFB guru. He was very fair to LSU during our 2019 run. He called ED AndLes like they should have been called.
