"You can't just put this on the staff"

Yes you can. And it all falls on Miles. He can blame GC all he wants but he's the HEAD Coach and should know the situation and make sure the proper sequence of plays are called, regardless of who is actually calling them

JJ's confidence is gone. A good QB would have the wits to know to ground the ball and stop the clock. Crowton has destroyed this kid

After the Ole Miss game last year didn't Miles blame it on Jefferson when they ran out of time grounding the ball on the last play, but replay clearly showed Miles telling Jefferson to ground the ball?

I put the bulk of it on the coaches, but from the minute JJ was stopped on that Gawd Awful play they sent him in there with, I was screaming for him to GET UP and get behind center!!

He was slow pokeing around from the minute they tackled him!

I guess the question is, how could JJ have handled it better?

He would be much more effective from the bench...

JJ is starting to look like a QB that couldn't handle having two plays sent in. The coaches are doing what they can with what they have.

He is a junior he should have at least been able to figure out that the clock could not run out. It starts at the top but you would hope that a 2 year starter could have handled it a little better.

i agree 100%; it shouldn't be that damn complicated. you sent JJ in to run a certain play, every player, defensive player and fans in the stands knew it. i think sending JJ in in that situation was telegraphing the option read. we continue to outguess ourselves on offense. if we had a good offense coordinator (not great) and better coaching on the OL, we'd be as good as bama.

According to Miles postgame

.. after he had some time to make something up...

This is 100% on Miles. Who put Jefferson in? Who called a running play on 2nd down (with no plan to spike or pass on 3rd- with the potential for a 4th down play). Who hired - and kept Crowton last year?

Did this not happen against Penn State 6 games ago?

Did the not happen against Ole Miss 8 games ago?

So as JJ lined the offense up to ground the ball and the coaching staff is sending in 3 wr's on the 1 yard line that would have been and illegal substitution penalty or too many men on the field. Either way JJ looks like an Idiot. To have 30 seconds and send in one play on a running play when you have no timeout is idiotic and indicative of what we have seen from this coaching staff the last 3 years. It is apparently obvious The Offensive Coordinator needs to go.

yes and no. an sec level qb is a complicated job. it appears that JJ struggles with part of the requirements. as a person progresses in just about any endeavor they reach their ceiling; JJ just reached his a little shy of the elite college bar. in other words, we expect more than he can give. he should be proud that he gave it his all and be the best back up he can. get that college degree and use that determination to carve out a successful career. i'm proud of him and proud that he reps LSU. he seems to be a fine young man and as asset to the community.

JJ is supposed to a Junior and a leader on this team. He should have hurried them up and called a qb sneak on his own. He should have hurried up got them down and just went in. Goosd QBs understand the situation and call their own plays if 2 weren't sent in on the previous play.

Some people "Get It" and some don't. Our starting QB doesn't have the mental capacity to process information quickly enough in a stressful situation like that. He and Miles are a direct reflection of each other. When both your head coach AND quarterback seem to be kind of "Forest Gumpish" you're just asking for problems.

We all know how this thing is going to wind up, unless some of the LSU Power Brokers step in and give an ultimatum........

In my opinion, when you are the QB, you are the leader of the offense. He needed to line up the offense immediately and run a play (or just simply spike the ball to stop the clock). The problem is that I don't believe the coaches are allowing these kids to think at all. How can anyone (players and coaches) let the last 25 seconds of the ballgame run out when you are at the 2 yard line and have a chance to win the game. The chaos was sickening. Crowton needs to go today.

Does anyone know if we had clock management issues when Jarrett Lee started two years ago? If Lee had stayed in the ballgame last night at the 2 yard line, it would have been very interesting to see if he was the leader we are looking for.

yeah, your are suppose to be the starting QB at LSU and you have no clue was going on..

This is why LSU sucks on Offense, because JJ has no idea how to pass, nor does Crowton know to call plays for a handicapped QB..

The clock mismangement and bad communications on plays started early in the second half. It's what cost us the needed time outs. That's not JJ's fault. Not having a 2d play at the goal line is not JJ's fault. AND if JJ is not able to carry two plays in, it was not his fualt the decision was made to pull JL...

The STAFF is the problem. They decide who plays, what plays are called etc.

Jefferson more often than not CANNOT execute the offense. It would be nice to learn whether JL can do any better i.e. make him the starter leaving no doubt in anyone's-read the rest of the team-mind.

Let him take all of the snaps in practice and let the chips fall where they may.

No reason not to at this point from this point of view. Mr. Jefferson has had one worse performance after another. He needs to sit and watch...

There should never have been any substitutions. The team was lined up and looking for a play with 20 seconds left.

This....Crowton fricked that whole situation up.

Even most HS QBs would have enough awareness or the urgency to get everyone back to the line

There wereTWENTY EIGHT SECONDS left, not 2.8, that is an eternity for the coaches to call the play, no reason to run up & spike and run one play when you have enough time to run 2 plays why throw one away at that point?.. but when the COACHES let it run down.. they should have then called for the spike. He did right looking for the play since 1. They did not give him the play 2. No reason to spike it at 28sec 3. By the time he realized they were confused again and did not have a clue they were running a different package on, you have to let them get set or penalty on LSU , game over
