With mostly CPM players. JJ is a good coach.

Without the 4 (Skenes, White, Hurd, and Coop.) transfers, Plus the Freshman (Guidry, Kling, Neal, and Jones) that have contributed throughout the season I think we are a regional team. So luckily he can coach and recruit.

And he’s getting top transfers to commit while we’re still in Omaha fighting. I don’t think we’ll be going anywhere anytime soon.

Objectively this season is a success no matter today's outcome. The recruiting and coaching has been phenomenal. Excited for next year just like WBB!!

Any season where you make it to Omaha is a success.

Baseball is too fickle to require a championship to be considered successful. It’s too dependent on streaks and honestly a little luck.

Apt description.

Good coach but certainly not a great coach.

Without these players is the dumbest argument. CJJ got them to campus. You can’t say without them, we would be a regional team.

Agreed this has been a successful year, last 4 left especially with injuries is pretty incredible. In baseball it’s about getting to the cws you do it and eventually you bust through.

Paul got us there in his second year but that was a much different path and ended at top 6. Mid year we were circling the drains facing 3 years of missing the regionals until the streak happened.

This team was a loaded up favorite thanks to our freshmen and the portal recruiting, then beat the best teams while losing piece by piece of the staff. It hit a slight slump at the end then pulled out of it.

JJ looks to be someone that will have us hosting home regionals and supers most years. A large core of the team will need to be replaced but I’m sure the portal and freshmen will fill it back up. I’m
Not sure they will be ranked like this team or hyper like our 09 team but i bet they will be a threat to make the cws.

They are pointing out that Johnson’s recruiting ability over the last two seasons have brought an ok traveling for a regional team to a really good to great Omaha team.

I don't know how anyone could complain. 50 wins, a minimum of the semis in Omaha, top ranked recruiting and portal classes.

He wins a natty at LSU before he's done coaching.

I guess that's better than a lot of the haters, but I think LSU just won like their 50th game this season? LSU had a shutout for maybe the 2nd time in LSU's Omaha history? His pitching coach isn't even making the visits anymore. I'd say he's a fantastic coach that is ridiculously criticized by some around. I just don't know who would please everybody. They are going to get criticized no matter what around here.

IMO, in this sometimes strange game, making it down to the final 4 teams should never be viewed as a disappointment.

All of those freshmen were committed before he got here fwiw. Next season’s freshmen will be more of a mix, and the class after that is made up entirely of players he recruited.

Can you imagine the Rant's expectations of Kelly if Mulkey & then Johnson win it all in Year Two?

Well that’s a dumb take. Even if they were committed he had to keep them committed.

They could have easily decided to skip town for Tennessee or Florida or Vandy.

You still have to keep those players committed. They easily could have started looking around.

You could be chairman of the dumbass fan society.

Johnson is one of the top 3 ( at worst ) college baseball coaches in the nation. LSU will compete for championships every year he is the coach here.

No, it’s simply a factual statement that you twisted into something else. To the poster’s point, when we begin to see classes full of his recruits the talent infusion may be even more pronounced (or the same, or not for that matter).
