Kicking is mostly mental, after you learn the mechanics, it’s all about confidence.
At the 2003 National Championship game in New Orleans, they had a field goal set up near the old Jax brewery. An out of shape, out of practice, somewhat intoxicated 43 year old was convinced that he could still do it. He stepped up a nailed it like Morten Anderson, or rather like Tom Dempsey (straight on). It was confidence, not talent, that made that possible.
The worst thing a coach can do to a kicker(s), is erode the confidence needed for the most individual effort on the team.
If a running back gets stopped short, somebody missed a block. If a quarterback misses a pass, somebody allowed pressure or dropped a ball. If a kicker misses, and it wasn’t tipped, it’s him and only him.
The one position you can’t cuss out or blame, is the kicker.

Culp is a good kicker and Gonsaulin was ridiculously accurate at Catholic high; he nailed a couple of 50+ yarders.
Those guys aren't playing great but they are absolutely all we got. Why not coach them up and encourage them instead of saying they are non-existent. If he's the type of guy that thinks criticism might motivate people, fair enough. But why not say, "I've seen those guys practice, I've seen them in high school. I know they can do better. They're going to get better one way or another." Saying we have no kickers is like telling them they shouldn't even show up to practice.
