Game was originally scheduled for 2024. Likely part of the switch to the 9-game conference schedule.

Now hopefully they cancel it altogether. There is no universe or parallel reality in which LSU should ever be playing AT Rice

I remember years ago an Eli Manning Ole Miss team played at Arkansas State in Jonesboro and a Cal team led by Aaron Rodgers played at Southern Miss in Hattiesburg.

I mean we use to play them every year between 1932 and 1983. In fact we've had more match-ups against them than Georgia or Tennessee historically.

I'm also pretty sure we would be playing them at NRG stadium and not at Rice Stadium.

Yep we originally were supposed to play Rice at NRG in 2020 but Covid messed that up

Agree. Probably see more of this from SEC schools in the next few months. Sankey wants the new schedule format in place by the SEC spring meetings.

I live in Houston and would enjoy attending that game. Would be fun. Keep your snarky comments to yourself.

As convenient as it would be for our Houston posters I’m glad they’re kicking it down the road and assume it will be canceled completely once UT and OU join

Manziel and A&M played in Ruston at LA Tech. Think he had about 1,000 yards of offense that night

If at NRG it would essentially be a home game for LSU with 60000 LSU fans

Such a great reason to play them in current days.

It might be good for the recruiting as Houston is loaded. Also, there are MANY alumni there. I attended two games in the '60's when Rice had a good team. They haven't been too good of late but you can't tell how good ANYone will be in 2029. LSU LOST BOTH games in Houston so there's that!

If you want fun, maybe hope LSU plays anyone but Rice in Houston.

And for many of those years Rice was a legitimate top tier program.

Great chance to get the powerhouse Duquesne on the schedule
