Les got another 5 mil next year and got to stick it to all of us. Aleva got to act like a hero with Les' family looking uncomfortable in the background....what a shite show.

I don't think the players mark this down as a loss, those guys really do care about Les and he is more than a coach to many of them. There is a reason why his former players came out in support of him after all.

OK, it's clear that Jimbo was at least unofficially approached and told the LSU crew to start walking so who was this magical option 2 that was a realistic get that not only was worth firing a successful (yes, you read that right) coach but paying him 15 million and then (probably) having him stay in conference?
Doing all that to roll the dice on some "up and comer" just made no freaking sense. One of the main bitches about Les was "all he can do is recruit" so this new narrative that he was driving the program into the ground is bullshite, too.

I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but...
I don't think Alleva came out looking like a hero.
That was the most sheepish endorsement of a person I've ever seen. It was like he could have said, "well, I tried to get rid of you Les, but couldn't get our guy lined up, and we succumbed to all the media and fan pressure that if we didn't have a plan we better not fire you.... So, here, keep your damn job another few months anyway"
I let my tix go 2 years ago when the decline started. Giving room for the worshippers.
