This is a stupid thread. The fans have absolutely no effect on the games outside of the dome. Give me a break

AND...the game is THREE WEEKS AWAY!!

I'm not even sure what "fan focus" is. There has been a TON of discussion about the game.

Perhaps, someone can post a video of the crowds at BDS this season. Then, we can do film study and break down our assignments and pick up on our opponents' moves.

Prominentwon: Look at this guy in section 401 Seat 12b. That is your man. He has a tendancy on 3rd down to lift his pom pom in his LEFT hand and scream ROLL TIDE. Notice, he seldom adds the last ROLL. So, it is NOT Roll Tide Roll. He takes a play off and says Roll Tide ONLY. So, YOUR assignment will be to get on his right side and when the crowd is in the Wave Formation....YOU must get a jump on him and scream GEAUX TIGERS!!! If he is able to get the Pom Pom move off....throw your piss balloon at him before he can affect our QB!!

Any questions?

In my opinion, your opinion is absurb!! Absolutely without any merit or justification!! I have observed just the opposite with this Tiger team this season. While the fan base, me included, has talked loud and proud about how we would steam roll each team, each week(except Bama), the Tigers have not let anyone slip up on them.... This game will be no different, the coaches and players will be prepared and bring thier best regardless of what any of us rantards say or do....

I agree with you. The team does feed off the fanbase. But keep in mind that the overwhelming vast majority of the LSU fanbase hates the gumps and wants to kick their arse.

We don't care if the gumps are butthurt or pissed or scared or whatever. We don't care about their feelings at all. All we need to know is that we are going to stomp their arse into the ground for 60 minutes because we hate their stinking guts.

It is different when you are ON the team. They do not take a loss or win like the fans do. Hence the word fan(atic). It is easier for them to just do their job and not be concerned that tidefans.com has banned LSU posters.

Actually, this year I've found there is zero correlation between the focus of our fans and our team.

Our fans have been distracted all year. In fact, some have even created more distractions.

Our team has been focused all year and kicked butt.

These young 18 to 22 year old's could teach us older fans a thing or two about championship focus.

Everyone will dismiss this. Everyone will say, "we're the fanbase we can say whatever we want." Look, I don't disagree. But the fanbase, in my opinion, is generally a fairly accurate gauge of the team. I see a lot about this season, this draft class, next year, etc. I realize that it's December 14 and a long way from the game. But I hope this team is getting away from postseason accolades and thinking about this game. WE HAVE TO WIN THIS GAME. These fricking gumps are driving me nuts. This is the game, this is it, we're the GOAT if we win.

Dude, last time everybody was focused for every hour of 2 weeks adn we played our shittiest game of the season. (IMO)

As fans, we focused our asses off in the second half of the SECC.

nothing could be further from the truth.

the fanbase is an angry, disorganized, schizo mob that flits from issue to non-issue with no purpose other than to vent their frustrations or to massage their ego's.

the team is focused on the sustained preparation that has been a hallmark of their 13-0 record. ie., this team and staff makes their fanbase look like the fools they are. it's that simple/sad.

I admit I'm not focused on the game. In the past for bowls, I enjoyed interacting w/ opposing fans of teams which LSU hadn't played in > a decade like TX A&M last season, Penn St. in '09, OH St. in '07 & Texas in '02 or had never played before like Iowa in '04 or Illinois in '01. I had my fill of hearing from the Gumps for 2 weeks earlier this season. I'm tired hearing/reading their same redundant mantra of "We lost b/c of... (insert slight deficiency on their part here) not b/c LSU did anything superior."

This is exactly what is going on. We spent the entire season dealing with those people, especially the 2 weeks prior to the first game. We analyzed every shred of data we could find to try and figure out who had the advantage. Then, we beat them and had to hear how we still weren't the better team.

I just got tired of dealing with them. I think that most LSU fans did too. It was the main reason I didn't want to have to play them again. There are lots of good, decent Bama fans that I am good friends with. But, the vocal fanbase as a whole is one of the worst in sports and I wish I didn't have to be reminded of them in the lead up to the championship game.

So, I admit I'm not very focused. But, then again, even if I was, I doubt it would matter one bit.

And for a guy who listens mostly to country music... after watching/listening to all of the rap on the hype videos, I'm feeling a little

I agree with this. I do hope that the team feels the same way and don't think they can coast because Bama is going to be seriously pumped. It is paramount that this game be won for all that was acomplished this year. If the game is lost the sterling acheivments are tarnished and no there is no guarantee that next year will deliver the goods.
