T-Bob all over twitter crying about them being closed. It's like they think it's as much for them as it is the team. I guess he'll have a shitty rant on his shitty radio show.

I thought wildcat93 and bilj told me it was all a sleazy political ploy to gain the media's support during his campaign for HC.

Seems pretty convenient that as soon as the media starts bitching that he reverses course.

I just did just to be sure I didn't forget anything, I've posted in 3 threads about O since March. I also made that one last week.

Most of post history is Soccer Board and LSU baseball.

ETA: I can go further back than that if you want?

Yes that was the reason. No doubt he is far more concerned with appeasing the BR media than giving his team the most advantage to win football games

You're one of the best baseball posters on the site. I have nothing else to say in regards to you and Ed O

So because the public doesn't know exactly what is happening at practice, it's a bad move? Who gives a damn.

We will see plenty when it matters on Saturdays. Media is just butt hurt because it makes their jobs a little more difficult for a couple of weeks.

For the record, I don't think O opened these practices for fear of the media, but if you really think the media watching 10-15 minutes of individual drills takes away an advantage, then you're a moron.

So this is huge news that is being talked about by all of the national media, a "huge" (to use Finebaum's word) black eye for LSU nationally. Really? The only ones making any noise about it are the Coach O bashers. On the national scale of college football news, it is nothing, zip, nada. Something this petty and it's bringing the haters out.And it is petty.

I guess O believes not having any distractions whatsoever during the first 2 weeks of practice not even the ones that rant posters perceive as inconsequential is valuable.

BS

It's a bad look if we lose games.
If we win games who cares what practice looks like?

Only if you lose do the coach's means and methods come into question.

That pisses off one group of people - the media. Who cares?
Biggest bunch of Candy A's on the planet.

None have the guts to ask any "Hard Ball" questions.

They just want to be nice, complacent and "Fit In" so they'll get that free food at Presser's.

That's a fact, not opinion..........

I could care less if another minute of LSU practice is ever opened to the media again. If team looks really well, it might give false hope. If they don't, then it creates panic. It's never going to reflect how they will do in game 1. If the team can do something scheme wise that no one knows about, isn't that the point?

Finebaum is right though.

No, Finebaum is not right if you heard what he said:

"The whole purpose of practice is so reporters can go."

He's a fricking dweeb that has never played sports.

Most reporters remind me of groupies at rock concerts. They are there to be seen and snoop. If they see something that is the slightest of odd they will jump on it...red jerseys, crutches, not dressed out and it will be all over the media the next day or same day if tweeted. I'm guessing that with a new offense and a ton of freshmen that will see the field that O wants the least amount of distractions as possible.
That's why there is an SID office. Michael Bonnette and company will put out daily releases after practice that is there for the media to use.

What exactly was the huge course reversal? Is it that he may now open the last week or two of camp to the media? Is THAT the big issue here?

So spare me the BS bc I've already read enough on here just this summer to know outside of going undefeated and beating bama by 21 Ed Orgeron will catch more shite than any D1 coach in recent history

If he wins no one will say a word.

He got hired because he was Cajun and one of us though no doubt.

I know I shouldn't probably be posting over here, but have always enjoyed our game no matter the outcome. Just from reading through this thread a little bit, I don't really blame him for closing them for a while. Come out of the gate on game day with no one having a clue what to plan for. I know, I know, my opinion doesn't matter lol. Just have never had a problem with any lsu fan and always enjoyed our game. Hope y'all have a good year and knock off Bama.
