Their pitcher Hammond really have 3 HBPs in 2 innings? I guess that cuts down on his BBs.

9 BB by my count. Good to see this team is learning to take walks instead of the usual awful plate discipline

ETA: 9BB not including HBP

Hopefully the next guy up threw his bat into the ULL dugout.

If I'm reading stats correctly, they really out hit us. The flip side is we limited free passes, they didn't.

Always a good day when we beat the Cajuns in baseball. Or competitive underwater basket weaving. Or competitive BBQ cook off. Or in the bowl we’ll probably be paired with them in this year

Atta boy. Surprised to see Hilliard didn’t get any time on the mound. Is he hurt? I’ve been out of the loop

Season can’t start soon enough. Hope to be able to make a few trips to the Box this season, but I’ll definitely be at the game in Ruston freezing my tits off. It’d be cool if a good bit of Tiger fans show up and we can turn it into a home game, tailgating with Gumbo and all

LSU was definitely working counts in game 1
Most took first pitch
Ump zone was pretty tight as well in first game both ways.
Ull was swinging first pitch

It sounds like what LSU is working on right now. Early count and plus count approach. Jay said they really hadn’t worked on approach with runners on/in scoring position yet.

You nailed it. They looked at a lot of pitches and worked counts deep.

My favorite take away from LSU's pitching over the past couple of Sundays has been the very limited walks from our pitching staff.

LSU would have won several more games last year if they hadn't walked so many batters.

Yes, bomb just to the right of the batter's eye.

When you go on road in SEC in pressure packed situations and start pitching carefully to their best hitters you are going to have some pressure situations
Throwing strikes is good and not giving free bases but the competition is going to come and even the best pitchers are affected

one swing and he has more than half as many RBI's as Milazzo did in all last season.
