Fair or not, the real issue with Les Miles....

No matter what Les Miles does, he will always be compared to Nick Saban.
In 2007 Les Miles was loved almost as much for beating Saban head to head as for winning the National Championship.
Much like the current political state in this country, there seem to be two vocal camps of love and hate for Les Miles, and both sides seem to ignore any evidence contrary to their point of view.
The true FACTS are that in making a determination on Les Miles, both statistical evidence and subjective judgements SHOULD be used.
We won the National Title three seasons ago, so anything less would be considered a 'downward' trend. However, an expected dropoff would be to the level where we were at least 'competing' for championships, and the fact is we have not really threatened the last two seasons.
The comparisions with Saban are inevitable. I can say for a fact that I watched many Saban coached games where I questioned the playcalling and decision making, and the preparation of the team as well. Perhaps it is the effect of time passing, but the frequency and severity of the occurences with Les Miles seems to be greater in this regard.
There was an old saying about Bear Bryant that he could beat you with his, then turn around and take yours and beat you with them.
Anyone that knows anything about football would not attribute that to Les Miles. I'd say quite a bit might to Nick Saban.
But the fact is, we don't need to worry about whether or not Miles is a better coach that Saban, we need to worry about whether or not Miles is the best coach for LSU. He seems to be a good man and a strong recruiting among other positives, but he also has a number of negatives such as poor game management and personel usage that are subpar.
While it's easy to say that we are just dellusional LSU fans who expect too much, the fact is most knowledgable football fans around the country currently hold a negative view of Miles.

I am sorry, his game management has nothing to do with Nick Saban.
The end of the OleMiss and PSU games have nothing to do with Nick Saban.
His time management in SC08 and Tenn 07 have nothing to do with Nick Saban.
Him trying to call a timeout on an INT in 05 against Tenn has nothing to do with Nick Saban.
The man is a moron, and that has nothing to do with Nick Saban.

The real issue with Les Miles is that the he will be gone at the end of next year because there is no way with Jordan Jefferson at QB, LSU will win more than 7 to 8 games. The powers that be (TAF) will simply declare that unacceptable and his contract will be bought out and he will be fired as LSU's Head Coach. Who LSU will hire as his replacement is anybody's guess.
I only hope that whoever the new hire is will:
*Win or compete in the SEC Championship every year.
*Have no less than a top 3 Recruiting Class every year
*Win a National Championship every 2 or 3 years
*Speak so articulantly that you would think he is a master of all languages.
*Never, and I mean NEVER, have a single game/clock management issue in any game
*NEVER lose to Nick Saban
*Play highly touted freshman no matter what they do in practice
*Hire and keep the top coordinators in the country and both the Offense and Defense ranked no lower than 5th in the country.
*Develop every player to achive their full potential which is perfect execution on every play.
*Demand that if any penalties for offsides, false starts, personal fouls should ever happen with any player they will be scolded and benched for the remainder of the game.
*Eliminate cyclical down years. The program will compete continually at a National level and any bowl game other than a BCS game will be considered a failure.

Miles is good at shopping for groceries, he just cannot prepare a meal!!!

I think the main things fans want is just some sort of confidence in the team. Losing to rivals and the feeling that the team has no idea wth they are doing I think is the core problem.

He was until this year kinda like having an embarrassing relative, that you are glad no one knows about, but then they do something that draws attention to them and your family. Well, during the Ole Miss and Penn State games our embarrassing relative "came out of the closet" and the whole college football world saw it. Tiger fans are not so delusional as to believe their team will never loose. It is the way you loose or win against the ULL'S, Tulanes, and LA TECHS of the world that has the Tiger Fan Base in arms.

If the record of success Les has in his career at LSU, to this point in time, is an example of "moron" like coaching behavior, I can only hope our next coach at LSU can be the same type "moron".

I don't have feelings, so once again shut up u little plug.
I'm sure you could be a better coach than Miles though. I'll be sure to let him know that. You probably never played any sport in your life.

This is immature even by Rant standards. That's quite an accomplishment.

My sarcasm meter is working.
I'm waiting for someone to respond to this straight-up.

ok, i agree w/ everything here, but the only one who can do this is the great saban.
but, i think saban can only do this at alabama.
saban couldn't do it here at lsu and he is not 100% at bama, but he will be.
i find it amazing that the ranturds are so perfect at future vision.

This is one of the Weakest post I have ever read on this board. Miles is a fool. He won early with the talent that Saban brought in and groomed. Those players had the right mind set and the skills to play in the SEC. Miles can recurit the players with the skills, but he cant finish the job after that. Look back since he had gotten here and prove that wrong.
