I believe if the team improves in just one of the 257 areas the writer listed, it might have a domino effect, leading to improvement in other areas.

My biggest hope: the o-line mans up and performs as it must if we're to have a great season.
he could have saved everyone a lot of time by posting your line above.
execute the play.

Championship teams do not need tricks or competition to remain focused on the task at hand.
That is where the writer went off with the hyperbole - did he even watch the games of all the NC teams in the past 10 years including Bama against WKU/Georgia southern and the debacle with UT , LSU misstep with Zook, Ohio state (their entire season).
Every team has issues with losing focus against lesser competition - it is reality when dealing with college players. The point is do they continue to win or not.
The coaches never mentioned tricks or any fancy terms in order to focus on the task at hand - the writers are trying to subtly project their views on that when publishing the article.

If there is any lesson learned by the Miles coaching tenure by now it would be "resistant to change." Outside of recruiting, it's the most dominant trait of his coaching tenure. In game, in season....things rarely change and if so, do it very very slowly

Thanks. Wasn't much fun reading some of it, but there was some truth to it. As I've said, this week will be the litmus test. I trust we eliminate the mistakes and get victory in the swamp.

And this guy isn't a delusional nega-tiger who thinks the sky is falling. This is a rational, unbiased analysis of a plethora of very troubling things about this team. For the LSU fans that attack those of us who are more, shall we say, reality based, this should get your attention and make you realize we aren't the only ones who don't think everything will come up roses for this Tiger team.

I thought Mitchell was spot on about the O-line, especially about the lack of experience. Yes, we had to deal with injuries last year, but the subs were seasoned veterans, not youngsters like V. Alexander. With the D-line, the players play a bit more independently, and it's easier to plug one guy in for another. The movement of the O-line is a bit like a ballet, and it takes some time to get comfortable with your place in the "dance." I didn't know that the O-line last week wasn't directly responsible for any of the sacks. If true, that's somewhat encouraging, and I hope with a bit more seasoning, this new combination might be the solution.

quote:Wow.
At this point, LSU has already failed to convert on more red zone opportunities than in all of 2011.
I'm not worried about the defense. They weren't into it and clearly were ready for the game to just end.

Our coach is NOT an offensive line guru.

I agree with you, though my expectations could change over the next couple weeks one way or another. Still a very very talented team, just not playing anywhere near potential.

great article, and I particularly agree with this:
quote:
Some have suggested that LSU needs a challenge to rally around; that being three touchdowns plus favorites in all of their game's so far has not provided them the focus/confidence they got from the Oregon games last season.
If this is true, then LSU may not be a championship team in 2012. Championship teams do not need tricks or competition to remain focused on the task at hand.
