Ok, Ole Miss is ranked higher than we are and appear to have a good team. But I can't help but have a strong feeling that this will be a hard fought game that we will win. Some of the factors that I feel will add up to that victory include:

- We are young and have steadily improved in many aspects (including coaching).

- These are a very talented and proud group of young players who feel they have been backed into a corner. They are ready for a fight. (Never count out anyone who is ready to fight no matter small or insignificant they might be.)

- We have been "forgotten" by the media and many of our own fans.

- We seem to be gelling as a team. Guys seem to have found their roles on this team.

- I think this team is relishing it's underdog status.

- We are playing strength against strength on both offense and defense in this game. It will be a test of wills and these young guys seem to be mentally tough for their youth.

- We are at home at night.

- In a sense we have nothing to lose, and the pressure is on Ole Miss to prove they "belong".

- I think the coaches also want this one badly to make up for earlier losses and will bust their butts and do what needs to be done to put this team in position to win.

- This is Ole Miss, after all, no better rivalry exists in football.

I'm trying to think of some intangibles in Ole Miss's favor, but I'm having a hard time.

Recent history has shown that Ole Miss treats this game as more of a rivalry game than LSU does.

If you are having trouble finding some intangibles in Ole Miss's favor, than you're not looking hard enough. How about experience at QB?

That might be considered a tangible. Everyone expects us to lose because of it.

I'm thinking more of things that will conspire to help us play above our heads and/or continue to improve (even at quarterback) to win a game most think we will lose.

That's a bunch make believe shite that fans of inferior teams say to make themselves feel better before playing a game they are outmatched in.

Recently, we've been the favorite against them more often than not, and this is one of the few times the roles have been reversed. That changes things quite a bit.

as opposed to every other game? i agree with you, but you'd think the coaches would find a way to do this for every game of every season.

"Will" and "desire" and "pride" in the heart of a young and talented athlete may be make believe to you, but some put a lot of stock in it.

This team has talent and character. I would not bet against them.

Coaches do get complacent. I am not the biggest fan of Les, but one thing he does have is a lot of pride. I don't think he likes seeing his kids lose.

LSU has beaten a top 10 team in Tiger Stadium each of the last four seasons. This year we will beat two.

If you consider the youth of our team as an intangible, then you have to consider the experience of their quarterback as an intangible also.

Unfortunately I think you are right.

It is all going to be a matter of how well Ole Miss handles success. Their kids have never had this type of success and everyone is slobbering all over their knobs right now. If they come out and play their game, they likely beat LSU without too much trouble. If they let things like the crowd or the hype get to them, they might be in for a long night.

Maybe so...

But is it possible that Jennings could have a breakout game (or just a really good one) or that Wallace could have a brain fart game while under pressure in Tiger Stadium?

There is something strange in the air this week...

Name the last time LSU played spoiler to a team that had never been in OM's position. Rankings are making them believe they're so much better than LSU (and should be, based on previous play). I don't think they know what it feels like to HAVE to perform to keep things going. Tigers, on the other hand, know all too well that things can go south quick if they don't bring it.

JS - Rebs better have they mind right on Saturday night.

nothing to lose . . .

I know that he doesn't appear to "get it" at this point. But he knows it, unlike a QB of the recent past, and this will help him to improve.

I'm telling you, this kid has character and toughness, he will "get it" sooner rather than later.

You think LSU-Ole Miss is the best rivalry in the nation??? Maybe back in the late 50s it was, but not today.
