The President of a major university just brought academic finance politics into a football decision.
The man deserves every bit of criticism launched his way. He made his bed, now he gets to sleep in it.

since this dude wants to make coaching personnel decisions, then frick it let him coach the QBs and call plays too. He wants to save money, let him take Cam's place.

Yep.
Next time a coach asks for a raise, just say "naah, university going through budget cuts"
Miles you want to pay Cam 1.5 mill?
Nope. Go find someone for $250k. University going through a rough time financially right now.
Bargain bin time motherfrickers!

We better hope Miles doesn't leave at this point. Alexander might not let Alleva hire the best candidate because the salary is too high. I mean, what would everybody think if LSU is hurting and here they are about to pay a coach 6 million a year?
There is great cause for concern WRT whether LSU will pay top dollar for a replacement for Miles when Miles decides to retire. LSU may decide to go cheap, like they did in the 90s. There are many successful high school coaches in La. that would take the job for 1 million per year. Funny thing is that, IMHO, there are probably a few high school coaches in La. that would do a better job of coaching LSU football than the current head coach.

I agree, this whole shite show may be one of the biggest embarrassments since the basketball team received sanctions. Damn shame we couldn't handle this whole fiasco in a professional manner. Not only have they ruined getting fisher, now they've poisoned the water for recruiting and retaining your good assistant coaches. Makes me nauseated to even think about it.

if anyone is the moron it is jindal, who ran the university in the ground. LSU is a university, in case you haven't noticed, so the ability of the university to thrive is of utmost importance
i have spent many years lobbying at the legislature, and if you think the coach issue would not factor into the overall university budget next year, you don't know politcs

I don't get a lot of the Jindal hate, but if he wouldn't have had the presidential aspirations I think as a lame duck he could have pushed hard to close down SUNO and merge some of the directional schools. Having too damn many 4 year schools in this state waters down the resources for everyone. It's disgusting how our tax dollars go to support some of these institutions just so that the politicians friends/family have jobs, and they don't educate but warehouse piles of kids who shouldn't go to a traditional college anyway.

Please tell me we will be running him off and all the others that had any part in this mess. It ain't your damm money and it does not come from the state you POS. Fire them all including the board members who have less or a brain then me. At least I know when to stay out of something that is bigger than me.

F King Alexander has all your nuts in a clenched fist and he just twisted. Maybe next time you'll realize that the University and the football program are existentially connected. You screw one, you screw the other. Lesson learned, Louisiana.

You're wrong about one thing. No legislator has the balls to deny LSU money. It won't happen. Hell the mere mention of a bankruptcy had literal lynch mobs at the steps of the Capitol calling for Jendal's head.
FKA forgot one thing, the people who vote for those giving out the money love LSU to death. Any mention of hurting that love interest means they don't get votes. And politicians only care about one thing. Votes. Denying LSU money basically means they won't get elected again in this state.

Speaking of money, for all those ranting and raving about the stupidity of this intervention into what appeared to be the much needed turnaround of our program, vote with your money. Do like I did, and don't pay your TAF fee and don't renew your season tickets. I got great seats for the couple of games I felt like going to, and found much better uses for my $6000 than to pay to watch my beloved Tigers run their 1950's offense and a game long soft zone defense. Staying away and keeping your money in your pocket is the only thing that will register with these idiots.

So the president and BOS decide that funding education is more important than funding entertainment. I'm good with that.

The LSU AD gives enough back to LSU. The president should keep his hands out of the cash cow. We're the best in the nation at generating profit and giving back to the university
LSU isn't going to see this $25 million, it was being raised privately for a specific reason
Instead, he thought it would be better to turn down a free $25 million for political bs
People who think like you are the problem
