Explain to me what I am missing here...

Per the Dandy one.
The 105 are made up of 85 scholarship players and 20 walk-ons, including preferred walk-ons. A preferred walk-on has the same benefits as a scholarship player except that they are not on scholarship and have to pay their own way. A regular walk-on does not enjoy any special benefits such as eating with the players and living in the players' dorm.
So how do they "enjoy" the same benefits as a scholly player if nothing is the same?

Get to live and eat and dress out with the scholarship players.

What's so hard to understand?

Apparently, you simply needed to read the next sentence for an example.

Scratch that.... I see what I am missing...regular walk on vs. preferred walk on.

This has to be one of the worst "let's bash Dandy Don by posting crap on TD" thread ever.

a better question might be "What athletic dorm?".
The main difference between the preferred walk-on and the regular walk-on is that the preferred walk-on can report today. the regular walk-on has to wait until school is in session.
I am guessing there are other minor perks not involving money. Opportunities to dress out for out of conference games, better locker locations, etc.
