I agree with you

I never considered it a jab at LSU's QB situation last year

LSU is a recognizable school. Les Miles is funny. ESPN thought "Hey, why not get make a funny commercial with Les and Mike about our new feature in the NCAA game!"

It is 100% a jab at the QB situation. If they wanted it to just be about using a former Heisman winner and keep with the other commercials it would've been Mark Ingram instead of RGIII. They already show LSU playing Bama so I don't buy the "LSU not wanting to highlight another SEC team" argument.

This, people looking for some kind of meaning in a silly commercial need to take off the tin foil hats and go outside again.

ETA: I would think the players used would have to agree and maybe Ingram and Newton wouldn't sign off, so they went with last years winner and he agreed.

I showed the Mike the Tiger version over and over to my housemate State Penn. She thinks its "adorable".

I think the commercial is super for both LSU and Les Miles.

She did not realize that RGIII was considering/considered for LSU QB position.

The Michigan Ohio State commercial is not 'adorable', its actually uptight crazy shite by the Ohio State dad, tossing the computer screen out the window over the son using Michigan star on his tOSU team.

It's definitely a jab at the QB situation, which makes the commercial hilarious. If you are offended by EA poking fun at us you are simple minded, because Les obviously thought it was funny and agreed to do it.

Now I remember why I stay far far away from this board, you people are sickening.

I love the commercial, but it never occured to me that it was jab at the QB situation. I doubt that was the case. kind of self centered to think everyone else knows LSU like LSU fans do. More likely, they wanted to use the most recent Heisman winner. Maybe that was the first one they did, and then they did the others with rivals or maybe Tebow and Howard agreed to be used and Newton and Ingram did not?

It's definitely a jab, and it also shows Miles self-depracating humor. If seeing this makes you have a vagina, crown me Miss America.

I can't believe so many people think it was a jab at the QB situation. The Rant is living up to its reputation again.

It amazes me that anyone thinks it isn't a jab. This commercial was meant to target college football fans who most assuredly heard of lsu's qb situation. That's what makes it funny. It's not a "tiger rant is tiger ranting". It was meant to be humorous at the expense of miles and the qb situation.

So...why not use Cam Newton instead of RGIII in the same vein as the other commercials. Similar skill set, Heisman winner from the year before at a rival school.

maybe because RGIII is on the cover?
who is Baylors natural rival?

of course this is the logical answer. Not that they used a premier program/quirky personality in miles for no other reason than to show a coach upset that someone/anyone within the program would play using a Heisman winner from a school/any school as a qb rather than their own...which happens to be the biggest feature/change on the game that they are trying to promote.

ETA: we obviously need someone to call and and ask on miles first show

He'd just lie and say they used RGIII because Cam had a hand injury.

how does it not make sense. He is upset that mike is playing with anyone NON-LSU. I give up. you simple fricks

+1

first off, i'm a miles backer. so realize that when i say miles would never do a commercial picking apart his decisions. y'all are crazy.

the point of the commercial is that Mike is using a non-LSU player. it could've been des howard at WR or mark ingram at RB.

y'all are reading way too much into this. miles is self deprecating but not that self deprecating.

Why can't it be taken both literally at face value and with a double entendre message about our QB situation too! People are complex creatures that think and talk that way...why isn't it possible that the commercial was designed that way? When I saw it the first time I immediately saw the cleverness of the commercial beyond the face value advertising message for the novelty of having the reigning Heisman on your team. If it wasn't intentionally designed that way then they really lucked into a gem! (fwiw, I didn't know about RGIII/LSU recruiting history)

Desmond on his Rival OSU

Tebow on a rival UGA

RG3 and LSU have no connection other than the position disaster we had last year, EA was taking a jab at that

quote:

I didn't know about RGIII/LSU recruiting history
that storyline is not nearly as great as the QB disaster one

as if we are so almighty our faults aren't subject to tongue-in-cheek humor

Agreed. I instantly perceived the spot as a dig at the QBs and found it hilarious. Even if it wasn't intentional, a fair amount of people are interpreting it that way, so what's the big deal?

Besides, if EA Sports really wanted to keep the rivalry theme and have Les pissed simply because Mike was playing with a non-LSU player, they could've easily had him playing with Mark Ingram since he's one of the selectable Heisman winners.
