Expectations on Orgeron's Start with LSU

Taking a look at the past three LSU Coaches.
First 3 years:
Dinardo: 7-4 , 10-2, 9-3 (26-9)
Saban: 8-4, 10-3, 8-5 (26-12)
Miles: 11-2, 11-2, 12-2 (34-6)
Miles probably has the biggest advantage of having the team stacked when took over. I'd say Coach O's team moving forward is maybe a bit less than Miles had taking over. I'd say expectation should be minimum of inbetween what Dinardo and Saban did.
If Coach O loses 5 games, that's an immediate hot seat.
Looking at the 4th years of coaches above:
Dinardo: 4-7 (arguably should have been fired after this year)
Saban: 13-1 NC
Miles: 8-5
First 4 year overall records:
Dinardo: 30-16
Saban: 39-13
Miles: 42-11
Saban rebounded with a terrific year after his worst. Coach O loses 6 games, immediate firing IMO. No excuses, we have too much talent.
First 2 years: Saban lost 7 games, that's a worst case minimum for O. Saban had to completely rebuild, O has to rebuild but in a less severe way. We're losing a lot this year but not enough to justify losing 8 games next 2 years.

O will be fired unless he wins all the games.
No, he can lose to Alabama. Thats ok.
Well, Alabama and Florida. Then its alright.

My expectations are the by year 2, LSU will be a top 5, elite team in contention to make the playoffs at the end of the year
That is why we fired Miles, right? To be elite?

Half the rant already wants to fire him.

I'd say you better have a NC contending team every 3-4 years. So within O's 3-4 years, he better have about a top 4 finish in the country. Sprinkle in with mostly 2-3 maybe a 4 loss season here and there.

expectations remain the same at LSU considering their talent.
Beat Alabama
Win West

BYU - W
Chattanooga - W
Mississippi St. - W
Syracuse - W
Troy - W
Florida - W
Auburn - L
Ole Miss - W
Alabama - L
Arkansas - W
Tennessee - W
Texas A&M - W
I predict 2 losses next year...3 tops. Anything worse than that and he's on the hot seat.
And he should improve in year 2. That's what I'm expecting.

I'd say fairly reasonable. 5 losses is a no brainer hot seat like bet your arse you got 1 year to severely improve.

Win the bowl game this season, hire competent coordinators, reel in a top 5 recruiting class, be competitive in every game next season and finish in the top 10. Repeat. If failing to do that is anything but an anomaly, you should not be coaching LSU.

Is there 5 road conf games next year? That will be a tuff schedule if true.

'd say Coach O's team moving forward is maybe a bit less than Miles had taking over.
O probably has more talent than Les did
O's 1st team class ranks
Freshmen 17- 5th
Sophomores 16 - 3
Juniors 15- 6
Seniors 14 - 2
Average - 4
Les's First Team Class Ranks
Freshmen 05 - 13
Sophomores 04 - 3
Juniors 03-3
Seniors 02-21
Average 16.75
We will have a VERY talented team next year, but it will be thin at LB.

O should be held to the exact same standards as Jimbo or Herman if they were here. Just bc you went cheap doesn't mean you should be ok with cheap results.

The year that Miles took over and the previous 3 years included recruiting classes ranked 21, 3, 3, and 13. Average of 10th.
The same for O is (currently) 5, 3, 6, 2. Average of 4th.
But then again.. Saban was probably focusing on linebackers and linemen (where we're obviously lacking) and Miles had been focusing (or at least capitalizing) on skill positions where we are stacked.
SammyTiger pretty much posted this exact same thing two above.

Yes, due to the Florida switch.
Home: Auburn, Arkansas, A&M
Road: Miss St, Florida, Ole Miss, Bama, Tennessee

Losing Beckwith, Adams, and Tre White will hurt. But I trust Aranda will be just fine.

If he goes 3 and out on the first drive he should be fired immediately

I'll be very interested to see how O has his guys playing in the bowl game.
