He could be... Im just not sold on him as a safety yet.

Im still confused on how he got worse at CB from his true freshman year to his sophomore year. He was thrown to the wolves when TM got the boot and teams went at him... and he responded amazingly well. He was a solid SEC CB as a true freshman. And was horrible as a sophomore.

I was glad someone mentioned Hootie Jones--that whole situation worked out better for LSU in the long run, I believe. It appears Adams is a much better player.

I also went & looked at the ratings, and Adams was rated higher that Hootie by almost all those experts who rank the recruits.

I believe Adams is the real deal.

Safety play was worse which had something to do with it, but yea he wasnt very good last year. He did have an excellent game at safety against Iowa.

Yea... but Welter looked great vs Iowa as well

Iowa was a few notches below us in terms of athleticism and speed. Welter was our weak link in terms of athleticism... but was as good or better of an athlete than the Iowa players. SEC games.... its a different story.

And the safety play wasnt that much worse...Reid had a rough year. Still a great player with loads of talent and NFL potential... but 2012 was arguably his worst year at LSU.

But I do agree some of the blame has to go on the safetys... but its not their fault when a CB gets beat off the line, bites on a double move from a WR, beat deep, etc.

I was amazed at how much Mills regressed... especially considering guys usually improve from their freshman to sophomore year. Mills did the opposite.

I do love me some DT. Thought he was an underrated recruit as well.

He should have the nickel / dime spot locked up. Kids a baller at that spot.

Rumor is the mustang package has DT and Mills playing up at the LOS. I like that a lot.

You know that Chavis is getting his 'DBU on' when that Mustang package is on the field. I have been waiting to see them run it since the HB made it famous. That package can be more exciting than any spread offense.

Oh, I can explain this. In his freshman year we had Bennie Logan on the line. In his sophomore season it was Anthony Johnson.

Mills is, and has always been, damn good. No one is taking his place until he leaves LSU.

Loved me some Ronald Martin a couple years ago.... The broken bone in the foot would explain a lot, because I saw a player that didn't have SEC speed on the field last year. But, the bigger problem for him his he doesn't have the instincts or ball skills some of the other guys have. If he's healthier, faster, and more mentally focused that will be a plus for the Tigers but I just don't see him being a better option than Mills, Thompson, Jefferson, and from reports, Adams.
Would love for him to prove me wrong though, wish nothing but success for all Tigers.

Definitely has a lack of LSU speed.

AWWW Boom! Now that there is some rock solid arse logic right there. Can't argue that.

I, for one, am very excited at the potential for Mills to play a huge role in the DB domination. Talk about the perfect cover safety. I fully expect the Chief to run more than a few CB blitzes with Mills flying in to suck up that pick 6 when the QB thinks that he has a second to hit the hot read at the spot that the blitzing CB came from.

Chavis must freaking love it in Baton Rouge. Has Tenn ever had anything like this many All American caliber teenagers on one defense... ever?

I can see Chief trying to use Adams the way he did TM7. There are so may good DBs on this team I think Chavis is going to get really exotic with his defenses.
