We shall see how it turns out but I’m somewhat concerned about his vision for the university.
We should be more focused on improving the quality of students we’re recruiting/graduating, retention rates, research, academic rankings, etc.
In an Advocate article written earlier today, he claims to be focused on improving college accessibility to those of low income, rural backgrounds, and minorities.
Does that mean we’re going to lower/dismiss admission standards to accept those who fall under these demographics?
I’m not about holistic admissions nor do I want to accept an under-qualified student just because they fit a “diversity” box.
These students should go to a feeder/regional school. Make good grades there? Good! Now transfer to LSU.
The flagship university shouldn’t be for everyone. LSU should focus on recruiting and graduating the highest caliber of student possible.
