I know it was Tulane but Jesus Christ. The guy was unbelievable. 123 pitches and he was still throwing 100 mph on his 122nd pitch. The one kid got lucky and barreled up a fastball that happened to fly over the wall, otherwise, he was damn near perfect. What a beast

Given the outcome….absolutely true.

Any coach in America would start their ace in G1 if they get a complete game.

Funny, every top 8 seed saved their ace except for Jay.

None of them felt it necessary to try and get a complete game out of their ace against the 4 seed.

Disagree, still don’t think it was wrong. Perfect storm of pitching issues, opponents with limited pitching, keeping Skeens on schedule, and having confidence in Floyd.

We haven’t lost games because of Floyd has almost always left the game with the lead or only down 1. The pen has let him down. Simply keeping Little off the field should help.

Clearly they didn’t think he could go the distance…..plus I bet a couple wish they did at this point.

All true….but simply stated in this regional format if you tell a coach that your ace will pitch a complete game for the win in G1 they would start him if they have any good sense.

This thought is so obviously flawed.

Are you really suggesting that you'd prefer Floyd and an available Coleman than Skenes and the bullpen minus Coleman?

It boils down to whether you’d rather have Skenes or Floyd versus the second best team in the regional. Jay chose Floyd

He was hit pretty hard on his fastballs. Lucky at-em balls. Not as dominant lately as early in the season that’s for sure.

Skenes was great, as usual. He’s got an arm ready for the Big Show.

To be fair, we’re now in the most competitive arena. I don’t expect him to be, but he’s going to win a lot more than lose.

That makes no sense.

But yea I’d rather have every pitcher available after a Skenes CG G1 win rather than using Hurd, Ack, Cooper, and Guidry to get the win with 2 of those guys done for the weekend and none available for G2.
