Has this been discussed? He acted like a winner on the field last night. It's too early to know just how good he is, but he seems to have the intangibles. He was constantly running around helping guys up, congratulating, encouraging. One play stood out to me in the 2nd quarter just before half - Williams took a hard hit and Etling rushed to him and helped him up. It reminded me a little of Matt Flynn.

It looks like he takes pride in the whole team's performance, not just his own.

Damn you man. Don't you know that when you praise Etling you are crapping on Harris? Get your shite together

I noticed the same thing almost immediately. Never really noticed that with Harris (nothing against him, just saying).

DE was head and shoulders above his competition, no matter the stats.

Just like the Tigers, his fate is in his own hands. I expect, after witnessing his play and interview, that he will emerge as the obvious choice.

Did things like this all night. Gave, I believe, Clapp a slap on the arse after a false start. He's just a natural leader, and seems to be exactly the game manager LSU needed. Last night was his first time getting live reps in what, two years? He will only get better, let's just hope his WR and TE start catching balls that hit them in the hands.

Also encouraged and clapped at Malachi when he dropped that easy catch. Sometimes guys dont react to getting chewed out, but being positive and peppy always helps.

So then the question is, in practice, why didnt ANYBODY on the coaching staff see what is so blatantly obvious to the rest of us.

Yeah. I think they had to let it play out.

I do remember something Miles said over the summer hinting at competition at the QB position and it raised a few eyebrows. If I have time I'll try to dig up the quote.

Or in Dupre's case, his face mask.

Becuz football coaches as a whole can not see the forest for the trees. No other sport seems to have this problem like football. I've seen it at every level. It's an unexplained phenomenon....

He was an absolute leader out there. He was even encouraging the receivers after their drops.

That's awesome.

Another note as I am watching this is Brandon Harris was very supportive of the team when he got taken out. Seriously this fan base can act like such a bitch. So many people trashing him for his behavior.. yet Etling said he was nothing but supportive.. and even the commentators mentioned he was a great teammate. He was standing up supporting that very first drive.

So what in the frick is wrong with this fan base? He may have been sitting down as the game went on and not looking too happy.. but that's on him.. He very much was rooting on his team the moment he got taken out.. which is all that matters.

He and Fournette looked like two guys who just hated to not be out on the field.. So what if they were upset over not being out there.. but I noticed this once the defense took the field.

Not to rain on your parade, but this is the guy that Less thought deserved to be the backup. So sick of this clown's inability to put the best talent on the field. Its not that hard.

DE16 showed class, poise, and the ability to bounce back. All really important for SEC play.

Couldn't agree more. Just further proves LM is inept and will not put our team in the best position to compete in our conference. No way we are beating Bama with this scheme he has us in. Seems his gameplan never changes from offseason through entire season. GTFO Miles before we wind up back in the Hallman days with this flinstone offense shite!

Exactly what I said in my post yesterday. Some guys are gamers but you've got to give them some PT to see it all. That's why Saban seems to always have a QB competition early in each season...

He is smart and makes the easy throws look easy...i think he knows the plays very well but at times gets a little over confident and makes a bad pass that turns into a turnover...i like the kid and his pocket presence is as good as Zach Mettenburger's was...he steps up and leaves his eyes down field...im a fan

Idt what we saw Saturday is a fluke. The kid sat in and showed leadership, used his legs well, and actually made use of the top tier talent around him. Im a fan and regardless of the opponent he showed me what I'd love to see in a QB. I'd put $ that he lights it up for a win come Saturday.

The team loves him. As soon as they scored the first touchdown, Duke Riley, Beckwith, Jamal Adams, and a half dozen other players started running up to him and hugging him. Not just backups; mostly starters, and a lot of our stars
