Why wasn't Etling the starter from the get go?
He seems to understand the offense and can read a defenses better than BH ever could.
I know BH was Les's guy, but the coaching staff had to have seen Etling fit this offense better. There's no way he just slipped threw the cracks unnoticed.

BH ended the year at starter. You can't just replace him in the offseason with a transfer. Not in Les Miles' kingdom anyway.

No idea, but I'm pretty positive we would have beaten Wisconsin if he was healthy and the starter.

I hope it was due to injury Bc that's the only reasonable reason.

Everyone, including the "insiders" said it was going to be bad if Harris went down. Harris lights it up in practice when there's no pressure. He falls apart and overthinks it when it counts.

Etling is a gamer.

Harris is more talented and probably performed better than Etling in practice where there was no pressure. Etling just handles real game pressure better than Harris.

This is why Les is a good guy, but a bad coach. Saban would have yanked BH on the second drive against Wisconsin.

Didn't know Etling had a back injury.

Says who? Our world-class QB scouts/developers of a coaching staff?

From all reports BH looked good all spring and fall. Some even said that if we had to go to Etling the team would be in trouble. The couches could only make decisions based off what they saw. Even if Etling looked good, you don't bench your second year starter if he looks competent.

Only a winner would make that move and not worry about the backlash

Something is not making sense. They had to know that Etling had a better grasp of the offense. You can hide a lot with athletic ability but whether you know the Xs and O's of it should be readily apparent. Etling is head and shoulders above BH.

Knowing where to go with the ball is only half the battle. Harris can't get it there. He may know the playbook like the back of his hand but you have to execute under pressure in the game. That's where he fails. Has all the arm talent in the world. Can't execute and is inaccurate in the short to intermediate area.

I'd think there is a lot more to it than we know. Maybe BH has it all and just freaks out when under the lights?

Maybe Etling was never given the opportunity to shine with the 1s and really run the offense and not just go through drills
