Do you not notice some glaring stats on that list?

74 LESS attempts than the next closest qb.
He's 3rd with Yards per attempt
He's 5th on qb rating stat
6 out of the 10 had at least one year starting or PT in the sec under their belt
He's 5th in completion %
He's last in INTs

Passing TDs is the main area Id like to see improvement.
With that said a comparable rushing stat page like this one could help clear things up.
Prime example..... Florida game.
Red zone 4-5 times, how many of which did we attempt to throw for the score vs handing the ball off? Multiply that times 9-10 games, you get my point.

Danny Etling will be more than solid next season and we should be happy he's returning.

Your INTs tend to remain fairly low when you frequently check the ball down to JD Moore in the flat on every 3rd and 12

Etling hit his ceiling. That ceiling won't get us out of the SEC west clearly. We faced some pretty bad defense this year.

I expect and "up" season in defense and overall QB play next year in the SEC. Serviceable is nice when you don't have talent. Time to move on to more talent at QB.

Mett wasn't nearly as good as what most of you think he is. He was still middle of the pack in sec stats in 13. Tells you how bad our qbs have been to think Mett was a heisman type qb.

We can argue back and forth about QB styles but this sentiment should be universally agreed upon in Tigerland...

Thank you Mr. Etling for transferring to LSU!

I would rather wildcat QB against Alabama rather than a serviceable pro style QB.

If Etling takes 1 snap against Alabama next year I will be watching the game from the ER.

The Rant. Where you just make up stats that are dead wrong to further your own view point

In 2013 Mett finished 3rd in the SEC with 3082 passing yards.
Yards per attempt - 1st with 10.4
Completion % - 3rd at 64.9%
Touchdowns - 4th with 22
QB rating - 2nd with 171.4

What did Mett do with WAY more talent at WR?

he was 13-12 at Purdue and 6-3 as a starter at LSU this year with a stacked roster. Not really that much of an improvement IMO.

Is it really that hard to look up stats on Google?

He started a total of 13 games at Purdue. 8 in 2013 and 5 in 2014 before being benched. He went 0-8 in 2013. He went 2-3 in 2014 before Appleby took over full time. That's a grand total of 2-11 as a starter for Purdue LINK

Minor tweaks and a decent pro style QB produced records this season.

Shitty defenses produced records. We've been through the rodeo already. Not a single SEC team LSU beat under O was in the top 50 nationally in total defense. The highest ranked was actually Southern Miss, but i think we all know why. After that, Arkansas was 77th.

Ole Miss was 102, Missouri was 107. Not sure what they are now (possibly worse) but that was their rankings at the time LSU put the hurt on them. A&M was pretty far down the list too.

Don't assume just because Etling was serviceable that he is what lead to the offensive production.

My thoughts exactly. Mett and Etling didn't win shite. They both folded against Bama. They had some moments, but in the end they're both average quarterbacks.

You a dumbass?

Mett vs Bama 2012

24/35---- 69% ---- 298 yards ---1 td ----0 int

Mett vs Bama 2013

16/23----70%----241 yards---1td----0 int

Yes, Etling folded. Mett did not

Do a game by game comparison of Etling this year, and Harris last year. The only game where Etling did better was vs TAMU, and their pass defense was 4th in the country last year compared to 97th this year.

Etling is a game manager plain and simple. Just enough accuracy, kinda mobile, average arm strength. LSU needs an upgrade badly.

Brennan (if he stays), Lindsey Scott, or JUCO Stidham if we get one of the Briles. All of those guys are playmaker types. Arm strength, mobility, or both, and played in spread offenses. LSU needs to plan for the future and start young with the best guy available.

Metteberger, a classic pro style QB led one of our most prolific offenses

People always say this. But 2013 wasn't all that great.

2013 with Mett, 35.8 ppg
2015 with Harris, 32.8 ppg.

So one of our supposedly "most prolific" offenses was just 3 ppg better than the year our HC almost got canned for having a terrible offense.

Moreover, 2013 we were 6th in conference in scoring. That's lower than when we had Andrew Hatch at QB in 2008.

Etling is a 3-4 loss QB in a full-season.
