This is a common phrase I am hearing. Brennan should start vs Troy, but going forward into SEC play after that leadership, toughness, other intangibles will be needed that Brennan hasn't had the time to develop.

Etling will get beat up in SEC play if we continue this offensive game scheme from Canada, but his morale (which this team is severely lacking) will be needed.

I hate that we are calling his abilities a "ceiling." Doesn't do this kid justice, we would be far worse off with Harris behind the line right now. And Brennan won't have the experience to go into SEC play this year without getting mauled.

Brennan doesn't need to start. Not with this O line playing the way they are.

Dude is a fighter and smart. He's made plays when the line blocks. I don't get the hate he receives, could Brennan be better by the end of the season? Maybe, but Etling is not the worst part on this team.

Brennan had a nice game, until that interception. He came in at a critical point in the game and led a TD drive which produced what I thought was a safe 28-10 lead.

Considering what danny has against him:

Piss poor OL that has him running for his life
Mediocre running game
WR struggles
Playcalling

He's doing pretty damn well considering,he's not baker mayfield but he's making the most of it.

I felt this way as well. And then the defense took the field...

Stupid title in regards to the content of your post!!!

The people that are calling for Brennan to start are idiots!!! With the way we are playing, and there is nothing LSU has shown to state otherwise, we will not win the West, and that means no SEC ship and for all intensive purposes that means we are out of the Naty ship also. So why rush Brennan if the coaches feel it is too soon? Continue to get Brennan playing time through the year when able, but to put the team on his shoulders right now with the way the Oline is playing is risking too much if Brennan is the future.

I agree that he has plenty of struggles, but he's just not good. I'm a fan and hope for him to play well, but at the end of the day he's not getting any better from last year.

How many sacks and tackles for loss did he have in that game? I remember Guice running for a ton of yards, Dupre and Chark bailing us out over and over on 3rd down, and Etling throwing his worst interception of the season right before the half allowing Louisville to get a field goal

Won't matter who plays QB if we can't protect.

Danny was getting killed out there - looked like we weren't even trying to protect him.

this right here

He is getting moved off his spots in 3/4 of all plays. I like the QB management this year.

Agreed.......hopefully as season goes on the blocking will get better so we can see Guice gallop for 200 and Etling can pass for 200 and we will be in most SEC games

kinda hard to hit your ceiling when lying on your back...

he has no time .. no way for success....

BTW that 87 yards pass was pretty darn good.

Use them both equally in a game. Force the defense to adjust.
