according to ESPN. Ahead of Mcsorley at PSU, Hurts, Austin Allen, Josh Allen just to name a few.

If you take take out Miles/Cam, and just look at passer rating with Ensminger, Etling has an average 144.5 passer rating after the Auburn game, which is good enough to finish 34th in the country. Austin Allen had a 146 rating, and Josh Allen had a 144.9 rating. 144.5 is a pretty good number.

I was surprised by these numbers. Maybe there's more room for optimism with him than I thought. He threw for roughly 2000 yards without playing two full games, Wisconsin and the UF cancelled rent a win game, and he only played some of the JSU game.

Can we just assume Etling doesn't regress? A healthy similar QB from last year will yield 10 wins with the final 2 games 50/50 matchups.

The defense assuming Key is back will be just as salty.

Guice will replace Fournette unfortunately no one can replace Guice as a homerun #2.

Coaching will be the difference maker. We are finally a top 10 coached team to go with all the talent.

This is another example of us searching for an angle to feel good about. He's not a good player.

Why is it that some of you nimrods think that Canada could have turned Brandon Harris into a good QB but he cant help Etling who beat Harris out?

Yeah, those stats are pretty respectable. To give you some comparison, I want to say Matt Flynn threw for around 2700 yards in 2007 and played like 3 more games than Etling did this past year.

The main problem I had with Etling though is it really looked like he couldn't get it done against Bama. I think its obvious now that the trick to beating them is to have a fast QB who can escape the pocket and handle pressure well. No matter how good your o-line is, Alabama is going to find a way to get some pressure on you. It's just a fact. LSU needs to find some way to deal with that this year.

He could regress.

I wasn't searching to feel good about anything. I was arguing with Les Miles, Cam and Peveto's joint TD account aka RickyDaddy in another thread. I looked up numbers.

Statistically, according to QBR, he played well post-Miles in every game except Bama. He had a 62 rating vs Bama.

And the results showed offensively. The best defense he faced aside from Bama was UF, and he played pretty well. We had over 400 yards of offense that day. UL was not a bad defense either. His other worst performances according to this metric were JSU and Auburn aside from Bama. He was 104 vs Auburn and 112 vs JSU.

He peaked vs AM at over 190 in the SEC
124 vs UF
133 vs UL
145 vs Arkansas
233 vs USM

We had solid offensive showings in every game other than Bama.

As a comparison, Harris had a 130 rating in 2015. That's well outside the top 50.

Facts be damned. Many around here proclaimed that Etling sucks.

Honestly, I'm curious to see what Etling can do without a herniated disk.

I've said this a few times, but I couldn't respect the kid any more at this point. He's a tough son of a bitch.

I thought he played well at points. He puts fantastic touch on the ball. Timing on the deep ball was off all year. He's more athletic than he gets credit for. He can pick up a first down with his legs.

I don't think he's Rohan, but he could be Mauk and Flynn pretty easily to me.

It's mind blowing. Etling was clearly the better qb.

I'll hold my reservations until I see an LSU offense score more than 10 pts against Bama/Florida. No excuses this year, Les and Cam is gone and no splitting 1st team reps. Hoping he fully succeeds but I"ll temper my expectations......

Everyone is stressing out about Etling, but I think the kid just needs some tweaking. He doesn't make a lot of bad decisions. I guess no one remembers Jordan Jefferson or Jarrett Lee

I think with Cam gone Etling won't regress.

Harris and even Jennings had potential that was squashed by Cameron.

Goes a berTigersHeisman-Typical Gutlss Sports Bar Hero Mentality. You sit behind your keyboard and state that Danny Etling is a bad player. What have ever done in your football career or did you have one. Actually there iare done NFL Scouts who think he will get a shot at the next level. There those who go out on the field and compete like Etling and her are those who offer 'theories' from a keyboard trashing these young men like you. Go get a beer and an order of wings and go back to your Sports Bar!

I seem to remember Canada saying he will run plays designed to his guys strengths. He ran a lot of 5-7 yard passes at Pitt.

He is not going to try to put the square peg in the round hole.

I was pretty sick of 8-9 in the box.

Danny Etling just needs to channel his inner Danny Wuerfful.

They compare well size and smart wise.
