I'm glad Etling is good enough to give Harris some competition. That will push him to perform better or take a seat.

I was hoping for more from Etling, Harris was clearly the better QB.

That said, Etling was the clear 2, and can really play. He's fast and makes good decisions, seems like hitting the receivers is where he needs to develop.

People act surprised to see that Etling isn't misding an arm or something.

He and Anderson picked on a guy that is an Oompa Loompa.

Dang, I wish someone would have thought of that a long time ago, with all our QB's, quite "edgy"....

He's a serviceable backup which we need. If Harris goes down, I feel confident that he could come in and at least keep the ship moving in the right direction.

I wasn't able to go to the game, but does anyone honestly believe that Etling will be a starter at LSU? Even if he was better, or will be better in fall practice, I don't see Miles having the balls to make a change.

Etling is an AJ McCarron clone. I honestly think he will be a starter, even if only for 1 year, before he leaves here...

Etling reminds me of a Flynn type back up. He will be able to step in due to injury and keep the O moving. How many years eligibility does he have? Will he still have a year of eligibility once Harris graduates?

the praise of the backup begins/continues:

To be fair, Harris was terrible for long stretches last year.

If we have a good QB sitting on the bench and Harris doesn't improve, we should make a switch.

The only thing worse than praising a backup is sticking with a guy who isn't performing just because he was here first.

Not. Gonna. Happen.

Go ahead and come to grips with it.

This is BHs team and should be.

I'm just glad we have a "serviceable backup". Where would we be in case of a Harris injury if Etling had not enrolled?
Not in a good place, is the apparent answer.

The only QB that matters is the one that will stay in the pocket and stare down a alabama pass rush without fear and hit the open man in tight windows. All others are failures. Remember only thing to fear is fear it self

Harris wasn't terrible until he was injured in the Bama game. Before that he was above average to good. To see him accurate on a majority of short to intermediate throws was a very good sign as that was his biggest struggle last year. Timing looks like it is there as he was hitting guys in stride and nothing was behind them. Harris is your clear starter and would need a series of 3-4 really bad games to get removed. Etling is a serviceable backup that every national title contender needs.
