Caught this comment on the late late post game show. Etling had kept the game ball & as the team was heading to the locker room, he tossed it to Coach O. Who promptly tossed back to him, saying " no, you keep it". It was also noted, an observation, that Etling was "obviously emotionally drained after the game". This kid has some obvious talent short comings but no one can question his guts.

Once again, without Etlings toughness, we lose.

Fans forget how much a guy like that can push the other players to be better. Sometimes the small things ate more important than arm strength.

It's a lot easier to watch an okay QB when they play like Etling. Dude leaves it all out there every game

He misses some throws, but he doesn't miss as many throws as anybody who has tried since Mettenberger.

As the camera kept showing Etling with it, I was kinda thinking he was gonna find another deserving player (Culp, Chark, White, or Gage) and give it to him.

Yeah, I noticed that he wasn't letting go of that ball when the lock ran out! Good for him.

And he doesn't look like he's trying to solve a quantum physics equation like Harris. Our biggest secret weapon is the read option with Etling. Every time we've run it this year it's been a 10+ yard gain, usually on 3rd and short to medium

He isn't a true dual threat QB but when he does take off you know damn well he is going to give it everything he has to get the 1st. That QB draw on 3rd down late in the game shows everything. Yes, he came up a half yard short but he could have easily only gained one on that play but kept fighting to get it near the first down. Or even the run against Florida last week when his helmet came off, similar situation.

BPtiger posted this last week and it's still pretty accurate.

Danny Etling doesn’t see open receivers and, when he does, he misses them. But he tries hard and if there were an All-Likeable team, he’d be on it.

Does he miss open WRs from time to time??? Sure. Every single QB does though. When he actually has time to throw he can make decent throws. He's no all-american, all-sec type QB, but he gives us a chance to win and he absolutely plays his arse off every single week.

At the end of every game you know he left every single ounce of everything he had on the field. Can't ask for much more from a player.

I think some leaders are starting to emerge, finally. I also think we matured, as a team, more yesterday than all previous games combined.
