18. LSU Tigers

LSU basketball fans, assuming they exist, began November with a glorious vision: That, when the class of 2015's top overall prospect -- uber-star Ben Simmons -- arrived in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he would join two fellow first-rounders and form a bona fide national title contender. Instead, both Jarell Martin and Jordan Mickey will take their talents to the NBA, and what could have been an obscenely loaded team will instead have to settle for being merely fascinating. By all accounts, Simmons is the real deal, not only a preternaturally skilled future pro but a great, unselfish passer to boot. And he'll be joined by fellow McDonald's All American Antonio Blakeney, the No. 2-ranked shooting guard, and No. 14-ranked player, in the ESPN 100. What else will LSU have? There is rising senior Keith Hornsby, who had a solid 2014-15 as the Tigers' lone perimeter threat -- and could, in an ideal configuration, pair with Blakeney to spread the floor and keep defenses honest against Simmons. Unfortunately, given the Tigers' lack of execution in key moments all season, and the occasionally baffling (and baffled) work of coach Johnny Jones, it's a major stretch to use the words "LSU" and "ideal configuration" in the same sentence. Simmons is not to be missed. Beyond that, who knows?

At what point did people conclude LSU had the talent of the '96 Bulls? I'm not sure what else he could have done against a good NC State team

I kind of like the spot. Get some national buzz but you can still be under the radar a bit.

LSU lost about 8 games to teams with far less talent than we had. LSU has two players leaving school early for the nba draft. How many early entrees from Clemson, Miss State, Auburn, Missouri, Tennessee?

To be honest I feel like people hate on Johnny Jones ' coaching ability because they see others doing it. I mean Im not sure how you can look at this: play and say there is no motion and no PnRs like posters on this site were earlier

So the writer of that article is a typical Rant poster? This guy seems to have come to the conclusion in his own that Johnny Jones coaching leaves you scratching your head.

I'm not justifying the bad losses. I will say that the team we saw for the majority of the NC State game would have been possible with depth. It's funny how much better lSU looks with fresh legs

teams that have 4 players combining for the 3rd most minutes played in all of college basketball is not a loaded team by any stretch of the imagination.

Jones has flipped the roster 3 straight times, and next year we finally have respectable depth. I think it's fair to be critical of his coaching then, but up until now he's done a good job....certainly a better job than this clown ESPN writer indicates.

I'm not trying to convince anyone that Jones is Coach K, but he deserves a lot more respect than the rantards give him

Respect is earned, not given because he's the current LSU head coach and former player. He's idolized and worshipped by the Pumps and Pom Pom People simply because he wears P & G. He'll get no respect until he does something of significance with the existing talent pool. Just getting the recruits to campus isn't enough!.......
